No for real, it takes two shots to the head to kill a hunter and you get 31 shots per mag. I also use the slugger, I play a game of precision.
Yeah, it's really kinda amazing how terrible the weapon balance is in this game. There's literally no downside to the redeemer over the base pistol for example, same damage, less recoil, way higher potential rate of fire, like double the rounds per mag, more total ammo given, and you can still semi auto fire it if you want to use it efficiently instead of blowing 30 rounds into one bug up close in a couple seconds.
I wish I understood the devs vision. You would think it would be an effort of different but equal, but no, its one weapon is good the rest are not viable and when you call them out on it they ask you why they would re balance weapons this soon when they can instead nerf the rail gun.
But only the redeemer is really good in that category. The newest laser pistol is the worst pistol of them all.
Just seems like bad decision making and lack of proper planning and testing, which is far too common among many balance teams across many games.
Because of how the devs responded. They said that all weapons are supposed to be trash except for stratagems unless that stratagem is the rail gun because they didn't think of that before they responded with that ignorant statement.
If you look back to the railgun drama, you'll see that everyone diluted the game to soloing everything with a PS5 host using bubble+railgun+breaker+redeemer.
While technically their own fault, the developers are left with a game that has nearly no content. There was absolutely no reason to use anything else in the game.
The majority of PUG you would run into would kick for non-breaker+railgun+bubble gear.
If you go look through some of the trash above you'll see people claiming that "at higher difficulties" (this is always the random go-to for weak players) you have to have the redeemer - but other people never see their sidearm at higher difficulties because we're using the content in stratagems and support weapons. Relying on support and 'gems (and your team) is what the developer has said their intent was.
People claim things like the railgun nerf are going to destroy the player count on this game as people get frustrated and leave. But if this was turned into RailgunDivers then even more people would leave since it's a singleplayer snoozefest with borked mechanics.
