The game takes a microphone WHICH IS DISABLED!
I have Sony wh-1000xm5.
Those are bluetooth headphones, have DISABLED microphone in windows.
Each time i start this game, the microphones enables just for the game and i am unable to change it in-game.

Like what the ****?! How is the game able to take a microphone which has been system disabled? I have dedicated USB microphone for my needs FFS. Which is set like default BTW.

PERMENANT SOLUTION

FYI, Handsfree Telephoney re-enables after you restart your computer (at least it does for me, using a Sony WH-1000xm5). To get around this, you can instead disable the Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service.

In your search bar, type Services and open the Services app. Find Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service. Stop the service, then right click and go to properties, change the Startup type to Disabled. This way, the service will remain disabled when you restart your pc.

From what I've read disabling this service is effectively turning off all Handsfree Telephony on your pc. For me, the "Handsfree telephony" is still enabled on my headset if I go to the devices and printers setting page, but its still effectively disabled since you've turned off that service.

Try disabling Bluetooth in your PC from Windows settings, before launching the game.

This disables my headphones which i use only for Audio. Which would solve, nothing.
Not mean to be rude, this just baffled me, just give in to the hype and everyone was telling me how amazing it is and common. This? Really?

Ah right you are using those headphones too. :steamfacepalm: Well since they have both the mic and audio you are stuck using it then.

And having ♥♥♥♥♥♥ quality in my headphones? You know how bad it sounds when bluetooth has to share bandwith? Just tried to disable mic as well, it automaticly TURNS IT ON! EVEN WHEN DISABLED IN WINDOWS SETTINGS.

I am getting mad.

Every time I want to play the game, I have to open up control panel>hardware and sound>open devices and printers> open properties on my headphones and then disable handsfree telephony under the services tab in order to restore the normal quality of sound. Otherwise, it will play all audio on my pc like it's telephone quality. Only game I've played that has such weird sound issues.

The game would probably use the combo audio/mic even if you were to use a wire, as it's a single device. This could be a feature of the anticheat software, as it can indeed intrude on your processes due to its Kernel level access.

that's nonsense to not be able to choose input and output ingame. It is bugged and you can't test in game what's working or not. And to add insult on the injury even if it work in pc lobbies does probably not work in crossplay.

Oh brother/sister. This sort of stuff is why I had to return Halo: MCC.

Yeah but some people prefer more expensive headphones and separate mic over whole set. Like wtf?!

Right click the speaker icon at bottom right, go to sounds, click on playback, right click headphones, go to properties, click on advanced and under exclusive mode uncheck allow applications to take exclusive control of this device. Do the same for your mic in recording tab.

Tried that.

Edited: Wall o' text not relevant, you were talking about the game choosing the wrong microphone. :3

-------------------

You'll have to disable the microphone on the bluetooth headset from Device Manager. That's the only way to be sure it's not on. If the game chooses it anyway(It shouldn't) it won't work. I'm guessing it's a bug with the game in that case and not many people have brought it up as most opt to use a headset microphone as opposed to splitting both.

Got it.

"Needless to say; I hate to break it to you but it isn't just this game where this has had the potential to happen. There's probably dozens of games and apps you use or have used which have had free access to your microphone."

I hate to break it to you, but most apps do not access microphone WHICH IS DISABLED in windows. Most of games do not hijack something which is disabled by default and should not be accessed.

This is because of Kernel access.

Go to windows / Settings / microphone choose which apps have access to your microphone there and see if that does anything.

It choosed the microphone anyway, even set a correct microphone in Steam settings. My mic is dissabled by default because when it does start, it decreased quality, it is something i needed to do in a very fist thing when buying Sony xm5 and table microphone. And it sucks that the game bypass windows settings and by me set up bounderies.
