If you're going to run solo with it, then you take a support weapon that covers your primary's weakness.
Edit: Assuming OP is talking about Sickle since nobody talks about Scythe other than it being trash.
Sickle, perhaps for bugs on cold planets where you get less heat build up.
scorcher is huge help against titans and chargers.
For charger, if you line up 5 - 6 hit on the underside of its ass, its dead (works really well combined with the stun grenades).
for titan, you can quickly and easily explode the sacks under it, dealing a decent amount of damage and neutering their long range attack.
It's more comparable to a higher damage liberator. It is incomparable to the scorcher.
The scorcher is my go to for bots because of its ability to kill scout walkers fvrom the front. But sickle's range, speed, accuracy, and damage, are all absolutely solid.
