Love the game but...
I Just can't play it anymore, During a normal bug breach on diff 6, my fps drops to maby max 35-40, I have a 4070 Super and this is just not acceptable framerate. My hands are starting to hurt just like any other 30 fps games I try with controller.. (refuse to play 30fps on KBnM). I really hope they can get the frames up to snuff soon. I'll take a brake until then from this game. It's a shame really, I really like the game.

Something might be configured incorrectly somewhere, like in bios.
I've heard this is a widespread problem though, Like ALOT of people have complained about the framerates.
Is the game using the actual 4070 and not the internal graphics of the 10900k? that could be what's happening, i'd go into bios an disable it to ensure this isn't what's happening.

As this game is a pretty damn high CPU-hogger try disable some background tasks. You know all the bloat stuff from win10-11, and spotify, skype and others. ctrl-alt-del and check processes. In rare cases the energy settings is reset after an OS update and may throttle your GPU/CPU. I have an I5 Professor :) and a regular 4070 on native res with maxed settings 3440x1440 and get about 80+ frames stable no matter clusterfecks on screen.

Ok, lets put all our heads in the sand and accept sub par performance UNLESS you have the EXACT parts that is required for every PC game. And NO, I don't have an AMD. Really? Is there a CPU maker War as well as an Console war now? I can't it even with people anymore, im over 40 and must be to old for the internet how it is now days..
AMD users had a LOT of problems until very recently because AMD apparently produced poorly made drivers. Right now there is drivers made just so people don't have issues with HD2.

But since you don't then it won't really help you either.

That's the problem then, they need to fix that! I have a i9-10900, that should be more than enough for this game to play at 75fps in 1080p on High.. It's redicoulus it's not doing that atm.
Well that's a very, very poor CPU to run a CPU heavy game on... That's clearly subpar compared to mine which is 8 years old.

I know this seem counter intuitive but... That's the harsh reality.
its the same for me ever since the new warbond came out yester day my frames effecttivly halfed i only had like 60 on peak now i have like 30 on peak it even dropped to 13 once

No you need to fix that. A lot of games now are heavy on the cpu. If your system bottlenecks that is your fault not theirs. You can't just buy even a 4090 and just slap it in and expect it to work. Maybe you should have spent that money on the PS5 if that is your mindset on hardware. What you think "should be" seems to be the actual problem here.

Also 40 FPS is more than playable. What does keyboard and mouse have to do with anything? Actually if you switch to keyboard and mouse you will have a better time as you generally have much better control which could compensate for bad lag spikes.

Don't take advice from people here. This discussion board in general is filled to the brim with technically illiterate people.

i9-10900K can't even bottleneck 4070TI or 4080.

Example benchmark where those cards are at constantly at 100% GPU usage => 0% CPU bottleneck

https://youtu.be/FelUX2Zth1w?si=qHpVyfeAAo_BRl7n

Another benchmark where we can see that it doesn't even Bottleneck the 4090 !
And that's at 4K with FPS above 100.....

https://youtu.be/ySrnQ8ei7hg?si=qaD6JB6Xap7jQcKV

Saying that i9-10900K is not enough for 1080P at 60fps is just...lmao

I don't recall nor have seen anybody referring to 1080p at 60fps. The guy has a super duper new graphic card and I simply took for granted that he wasn't going to use it for such a low resolution in the first place. You're the one who just brought this up trying to bash on people.

I… what? are we talking about the same CPU here? the 10900k, which is notorious for trying to light itself on fire by running so hot? I can see thermal throttling being an issue but the capability of the processor is definitely not the problem here.

I played ds3 at 24 fps for nearly 5 years. 40 isn't acceptable in a game with aLOT MORE going on at any one given time?

Skill Issue.

You are literally telling me that it is garbage just by the fact that it is going too hot and thermal throttling. There is no point whatsoever in having power if you can't actually use it.

you have zero ability to understand nuance and caveats, everything really is black and white for you huh? just because it has drawbacks does not mean it its garbage, and when properly cooled that CPU has held up very well over time. like other people have been saying, the processor should be more than capable of running the game at higher resolutions and frame rates than described and it's likely either a software issue from some 3rd party application running or some issue with the game if its exclusive to helldivers. admitting you're wrong isn't the end of the world you know, it happens sometimes.

There is absolutely no midway here in your situation. You either have a perfectly working CPU, or it is overheating. If it is overheating you're not getting the efficiency you think you are getting.

Yes, it is a very binary situation to be in. Very simple to understand too.

you latched on to one possibility that I suggested offhand which is most likely not the issue. Yes it gets hot, but not so hot that most standard air coolers can’t keep it from throttling itself when gaming. It was still designed for consumer use in mind, so it’s not like they expect people to have a custom liquid cooled system to maintain it. Either way, your point that the CPU is underpowered or out of date still makes no sense.
