Keyboard and mouse or gamepad?
What's the best way to play? (I don't own the game yet, I'm just curious.)

I started using a controller thinking it would be good, but after trying mouse and keyboard, especially with a fast paced shooter like this, and that some enemies (mainly automatons) need pin point accuracy to shoot their head MnK was far superior.

If using MnK though i reccommend binding stratagem menu to numpad 0 (also change from hold to press), and use arrow keys for stratagem input. This way I can still move around whilst calling them in. This is what works best for me anyway

This is an FPS. How you could even ask without knowing that keyboard and mouse is always going to be hella superior is beyond me...

Because it's a TPS, not a FPS, and some of them don't require accurate aiming. I've basically have the choice on playing on Linux in my living room using a gamepad or to buy some hardware to play on Linux in my office. (Playing on windows in my office being out of the question.)

That is I was expecting. I was just hoping I wouldn't have to shell out about 800 EUR to play it. I guess I'm buying a better graphical card for my work machine :praisesun:

The heck is "TPS"? Team person shooter? Make zero sense.

And if I understood that well also make zero difference.

You got the answers that are statistically expected from steam forums (steam forums have not heard about and do not care about any features not present on a standard Xbox pad, so the ancient myth of controllers being inherently bad at aiming even though a controller can get you in the top percentile on AimLabs persists.)

Helldivers 2 was made for being played with a DualSense. Even the PC version supports features like haptic triggers and gyro aiming. They fit mouse and keyboard pretty nicely in there too. You should use your preferred device.

TPS = "Third Person Shooter"
You know what First Person mean right? In every screenshot of the game, the player appears to be in third person, so it's a TPS, not a FPS.

I certainly play this game as an FPS. The lack of control to where your shots land when you hip fire is crippling.

I can understand from where you are coming from but this still mean it make zero difference. Mouse and keyboard is always going to be superior.

My gamepad even has gyro features so I can move the mouse accurately with it (Vader Pro 3) but I'm still way better with K&M than gamepad. (I've been playing FPS & TPS since Wolfenstein 3D : it's hard to change one's habits.)
Maybe I'll check on some Playstation forum to see what people think about the controls.
The bill for the replacement card just went up to around 1000EUR because I also need to upgrade the PSU >_> ...

I mean a controller is still good if thats what you prefer to use, i just found it easier and far more better for this game to use MnK

Yes, I agree. Like every other FPS out there.

Although I generally agree (it has been my experience since the beginning of FPS) there are nuances.
Some games have special assists for gamepad users. It can be aim assist (like, if I recall, in some Call of Duty games) or recoil reduction.
As far as I can tell (tell me if I'm wrong) this is not a competitive game. This is a casual, team, game against hordes of creatures. Having an assist that moves the aim straight on the weak spot is not unheard of.

These mechanics are so well known than there are fun videos about how to use them to one's advantage.

e.g.

In Dead by Daylight (FPS only for killers and then only with specific ones) one streamer plugged a gamepad and tricked the game into recognising it while using keyboard and mouse so he would have no recoil while throwing daggers using the Trickster killer.
