No way to get samples from water?
New player here. So I'm running backwards while I'm reloading and fall into some water pit and die, only to find out I can't retrieve all the samples I've collected? They aren't sitting there on the edge of the pit where I fell? Seems like a QOL miss.

Yeah you can forget the samples exist if they fell into the water pit.

yeah no way to recollect them again after it happened..
I learned that the first time too when i was new, i learned to stay far away from water!

I will also include that it depends on the map: the Silo mission ones have that massive hole with water near the base which, if you fall, you drown and die.

In some maps with water levels, if you follow a rock path you will be able to cross a river without drowning.

When you get in a swimming animation, that's when you GO BACK before you drown.

There are also random holes on some maps. If you fall in samples are gone.

I might know which ones you're talking about. Aren't those that kinda looks like a bug nest that you can throw a grenade in it, making it explode multiple times?

I assume those are like, methane vents or other natural gasses...

But yeah don't fall in them or all your loot is simply gone.

Poor design IMO.

You could argue that it's deliberate, like oh well that's just your punishment for not looking where you were going, it's brutal and ruthless. But given it probably is a great way to sow some massive angst between teammates, and it is not a 'fun' punishment, I am just going to call it poor design.

I've played plenty of games that at the very least, drop your goods right at the edge of that ocean, pit, cliff you fell off of. In this, it feels pretty punishing when the purpose seems to be to grind and collect resources.

Has Halo taught you nothing of the dangers of water deeper than 3 feet?
