Are any of the new weapons on par with the breaker?
as per title. Are any of these new weapons on the level of the breaker shotgun for usability and power?

or are they like the rest of the weapons and just not as effective as the breaker?

the sickle is amazing even on hot planets if you're remotely aware (so it's garbage for 85% of players)
the plasma slugger is so awful, i should be refunded the entire price of the game that's how bad it is

I love hte sickle. Its garbage against anything with armor though, liberator for some reason feels much better at that, despite neither having penetration. No idea why this is the case.

Breaker isn't even the litmus test for primary weapons anymore.

I don't know how they made a weapon feel so flaccid. That plasma punisher is such bad design

The performance isn't the best, but actually firing the gun feels so weak..

It shoots a little slow blue ball that has barely any visual effect when it hits. No cool sound. No cool particles.. doesn't feel impactful

Think of it. We're using pea sized hunks of lead shot thru 1200kg bug goop in the hopes it slows them down enough to now stop flailing with razorsharp limbs.

My take is the biggest problem being ammo types. If I'm on a bot mission I expect even the lowly liberator to be equipped with AP ammo but NO. SHEEEEEESH

Apparently all Super Earth managed to figure out in the 100 years since Helldivers 1 and the Galactic War is how to change the Super Destroyer blueprint slightly, as well as how to lose a bunch of rather useful tech like the legally-not TF2 Medic Gun.
Granted, that degree of extreme incompetence makes complete sense given everything else in the lore, but still.

Sickle is basically just a heat based liberator. Its got a slightly higher RoF so its a tad bit better. Breaker is probably better for raw burst damage, but with good discipline you can probably run a sickle and never need to reload.

Plasma Punisher is weird, it likely suffers from not having a high enough AoE range or damage (and its RoF is a bit too slow). It is magazine fed, and counts as explosive damage, which will have some perks if used well. It has a fairly dramatic arc of fire though, likely difficult to use at very long ranges. Breaker is probably more meta due its easier use and lower skill need.

Don't have the arc shotgun, heard not-great things though.

Breaker is still pretty solid, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a slight nerf again(maybe recoil having a more significant impact on FPS view). Its mainly good due to its versatility.

Not as effective.

Sickle only good at mowing down small ♥♥♥♥, like anything bigger than a Hunter it's going to have issues with, meanwhile the Stalwart and Machine Gun would do the same with higher DPS.

Plasma Shotgun is just awful at everything. Every support weapon does it's job better, every Primary weapon better at mowing down little ♥♥♥♥. It's listed as "Explosive" with it's weapon trait but can't close bug holes/open shipping containers or destroy Broadcast Towers, the slugger can even open Shipping Containers lol.

Arc Shotgun can kill big stuff decently fast, like can 1 shot a Brood Commader and Grey bugs to the head, but it's only got a 10 meter range and is unreliable at killing small stuff, though it does have infinite ammo, but pretty slow ROF. It can hit multiple targets if they're grouped close enough. If you want your primary to specialize in killing big stuff though, you're better off with the Dominator. Want to kill Bile Bugs or Bots? Use Scorcher instead.

Laser Pistol runs out of ammo incredibly fast with only 3 extra mags, way worse DPS than the Redeemer. "Might" be decent on a cold planet? Haven't tried yet.

Sickle the best weapon overall

Plasma amazing for someone playing CC. It has a pretty large aoe stagger that can make drop ships/breaches a lot easier to handle. It can also take out armored targets including artillery.

Arc Shotgun. Bad against robots, but decent against bugs. I find quick switching with the senator to be really strong.

Laser pistol is not for me. It basically gets one kill before it will overheat. Sure it has insane range and infinite ammo, but it doesn't support my playstyle.

Interesting, thanks for the answers. What is the difference between the sickle and the existing laser gun. I mean obviously the new one is rapid fire instead of constant laser, but is there any other difference?

I do love my Arc Thrower so Im interested in the Arc Shotgun. Does it work like the thrower where it has wider targeting if you dont aim at all?

any weapon but the laser rifle.

they all deal with medium and small targets perfectly fine

Sickle is more like a Liberator with a bigger mag. Even on not cold planets it's got more overall ammo especially if you don't just go Full Auto constantly. Scythe is nothing like it and just awful in general.

For the Arc Shotgun it's arc is always pretty wide, there's no charging it like with the Thrower you just fire and forget, but low ROF on top of the low max range. It also doesn't seem to have the random chance Chain Lightning effect that the Thrower does. It just can arc between multiple targets pretty consistently if they're close enough together. Has issues firing around solid objects like the Thrower does though. It also seems to do some weird delayed damage sometimes. (I'm hosting so don't think it's desync) Like I'll fire at multiple enemies and they don't die till well after the lightning hit them and don't think they bled out that fast lol.

Liberator can break armor because its a physical round whereas the sickle cannot.

Sickle is liberator but good. Arc shotgun is okay on bugs. Plasma shotgun is the big suck.
ImHelping Mar 14, 2024 @ 3:25pm
new laser rifle may be actually good (actual ammo! Won't waste 90% of the damage/heat meter like the beam rifle when taking damage sways your aim. restocks all 6 sinks on supply pod), but it is not "Oh christ not 2-3 stalkers at the same time AGAIN" good.

Of little surprise, it performs better on robot missions like... basically any weapon that is not actual garbage like the counter sniper. But it sure beats an actual assault rifle of any kind on bot missions! Even if you will still wish you had a shotgun or defender quite often. You regret stalkers having more health than they deserve more than you regret the gun itself.
