The Uninstall option brings up the Removal tool for the nProtect in addition to the game. If you refuse to run the uninstaller it pops up, or if you have set your PC up in a fashion that you won't get them or can't access Kernel Level Uninstall... it doesn't get removed... but the removal tool is part of the Uninstall.

I've seen it myself.

Regardless, here is the uninstaller:

The "nprotect game guard" is an anti-cheat service, installed alongside multiplayer online roleplaying games (MMORPGs) like 9Dragons, Cabal Online and others, to block malicious apps and other common cheating methods.

It however is a rootkit (ties itself into the Windows OS to prevent being removed).

Firstly, find the game which installed it. If you are no longer playing that game, uninstall it. If playing it online, you will probably need to keep "nprotect game guard" in place for it to still run and be allowed on servers.

- Type "cmd" into the start button search
- Right-click on "cmd.exe" and select "Run as Administrator"
- Type "sc delete npptnt2", press enter
- Type "sc delete npggsvc", press enter

Under the SysWOW64 folder of Windows, you might find the files relating to it:
- npptnt2.sys
- nppt9x.vxd
- GameMon.des

Run a full rootkit scan with something like SpyBot:

While it's not malware (actually prevents some malware and cheat tools), it's still a rootkit. However, don't attempt to remove it and continue playing the game which uses it, as that would be bypassing anti-cheat software and just lead you being banned off the servers.

I disagree.

I've been really surprised that it would uninstall itself if you uninstall HD2. Anticheats commonly don't uninstall themselves just in case another program would also be using it.

Just uninstall it manually yourself.

God, this whole thread is just ripe with tinfoil hat wearing madness

can't write this crap without solid source material, which is why I come here... Steam discussions are chalked full of utter nonsense that you'd never expect a human being with an IQ north of 40 to say (anything higher than that and the brain runs "thatsfingstupid.exe" so it never comes out lol)

Also... do you know how many games run this exact anti-cheat software? It's hilarious.. you could have 20 games installed and uninstall 18 of them and STILL it would be installed.. lol

People on the Steam forums will argue about anything. You could train your ai chatbot by letting it post on the forums and nobody would suspect a thing.
