Why are some animations 12 fps?
I noticed that if you shoot down a dropship it just crashes in the most hilariously jank 12 frames per second animation ever. It looks so bizarre with the rest of the game feeling a lot more fluid and dynamic.

Why is it like that? Can't drop ships crash with some semblance of actual physics or at least with more than 12 frames per second? :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

I also see some other animations are also on the same frame rate and it just leaves me baffled as to why ... just why 😂

You might need to update your PC. I see all sorts of physics occuring when dropships get destroyed.

I dunno man, potatoes aren't meant to play HD2.

It's a performance issue, not an animation issue.

Pretty sure my rig can handle it.

3080 GPU and 12800K CPU

It's weird because it doesn't always happen but when it does it looks hilariously janky and only with 'some' animations play. The dropships in particular just seem to do it more often for some reason.

Doesn't really have to do with your rig, it's a game engine performance issue.

No they are right, happens to me too. The game is running at 70 FPS but animations at like 20. I thought it was just AH being useless, so its a bug??

The issue is not your PC, it happens in my game copy too. It’s something explicitly programmed in the game called “refresh rate”, aka animation optimizing. Most games do this to save resources and processing on distant things that don’t need to look good since the player can’t see them well. I think for HD2 it’s just so noticeable because the game runs on an old engine and so has to do it more severely

pretty sure that's a LOD(level of detail) thing to save resources... things that are far away are supposed to have less detail, including animation framerates, so if you see a ship up close do that then probably engine issue yes. otherwise maybe changing the graphics settings can help?

There's something with Dropships when they are shot down. There was a YT group that had 3 players bring RRs to a defense mission. They were bringing down so many Dropships that each of them had their game crash one or twice during the mission. Not all at the same (or else they wouldn't have finished it) but each of them crashed.

I agree that the fps on the blowing up dropships often looks jank how you described, they probably missed something there that could be fixed. dont hold our collectivve breath xD

You have a CPU that is notorious for killing itself.

So yeah, it is your PC.

Guess OP is lucky then. For a moment I thought the 12gen series had the same issues as the 13 and 14gen series that were killing themselves.
