Welp, Planetary Bombardment is a bust
Did they even play test this Active Action? A single bot mission with the DSS team killed us over 20 times. Couldn't even get to the third objective.

I had to head to work a few hours before the DSS went into effect.
Coming home to find out how it works, how it's working, and how the community feels has been very disappointing.

A friend told me that is was "basically an indiscriminate 380mm barrage that just follows you around the map." I stil had to read up on the results.

Reading what everyone says it certainly sounds worse than I imagined. And people confirming that it indeed DOES teamkill you just sounds stupid AF!!!

What they should have done: (any ONE of these seems better)
  • Provide A Free 380mm Stratagem on that planet for the duration.
  • Much Faster Cooldown Time IF you bring your Own 380mm
  • Longer Duration of Bombardment
  • HELL! Even just Increased Space/Skybox Animations/Noise that represents a corresponding Passive Effect that does some statistical background numbers work to allow for easier planetary takeovers.

This is only in regards to the currently active DSS 380mm Bombardment. I can't imagine the disappointment of the others to come. It'll be "neat" to have Eagle 1 killing us all the time!

Yea it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded. i played 3 missions on this major order and each mission, i got shelled no less than 5 times. I dont know how the fnck they think anyone is supposed to tactfully play through it. The last mission it killed me to my last reinforce 3 times and barely got out, nevermind covering all the bases and objectives. Great game, but this is the dumbest $#!t to come out of it yet, but haha, yea, I get the joke, it can fnck off now.

And it's another tell that they don't even play their own game. Even running armor with explosive resist is not enough. Not to mention the constant ear rape.

It's aiming way too much at helldivers to be of any use. If it only aimed at things out of your actual active range, like for say +100m away from any helldiver to avoid friendly fire it would be WAY better. I got hit 20 times randomly in my first two missions, almost died 10 times.

Bots probably already took it over, hence why it's constantly targetting the squad

Yeah, I'm convinced they made Helldivers 2 initially good on accident. They tried to turn it into the game they wanted and everyone hated it. They begrudgingly reverted things but all of the new content drops start off garbage and have to be tweaked or fixed because they don't work as advertised.
All the content they have was made prior to launch. The cycle has continued: add premade content, don't test it, and don't modify it to fit the averages set by the current patch.

I think it one simple think could save this - something like that in a mission - "warning - planetary bombardment in this quadrant" (and aprox, make this zone on radar).

It not being tested is really a good case scenario - a ♥♥♥♥ up that can be fixed in a quick patch.
A far more grueling perspective is that it acts precisely as the devs intended.
Just think about it. This would mean that there are minds actually so demented that do think being perpetually bombarded by 380s is some fine entertainment.

Using the shield backpack helped with the friendly fire, but my ears tapped after about 10 mins.

Being forced to use certain gear to make a gimmick work is just bad design.
