Why do people move DSS to MASTIA?
Why did most people vote to move DSS to MASTIA when our main order is defend GAELLIVARE? What's the point?

Logistics, cut enemy supply lines to stop their attack on Gaellivare, since their attack comes from Mastia.
according to other forum posts to stop them from coming from there, like cutting them off.
i don't know if this is how it works or not, i've only seen both sides claim it with certainty one way or the other. it's not really explained in the game.
i guess most others voting saw the votes going there and just going along with it, snowball effect.

i think devs should put the managed into the democracy and limit the options some more if there is actually wrong moves of sending it somewhere where it would do absolute sweet fa.
You don't understand how the DSS or invasions work.

We take Mastia -> invasion fails.
We park DSS at Mastia -> activate abilities -> invasion is canceled.

Every single person on Gaellivare right now is clueless and wasting their time because the Jet Brigde attack is doomed. The smart thing would be to keep diving Mastia so we don't lose liberation progress.

AH really need to work on the wording for that ability tho...

Edit: added screeshot of relevant ability.

The main order is irrelevant at this point since the DSS is finished, we could move it anywhere since it's done. My guess is people thought the attack on Gaellivare would come later than it actually did to use the DSS action to prevent an attack from going to Gaellivare in the first place and liberate Mastia to destroy the jet brigade. With the current strength of the attack, there's no realistic winning either since the DSS bonuses are not online, so really the only way to "win" is just move it somewhere else and forfeit the MO medals.

At least we'll see if the DSS can cancel an ongoing attack if you move it late or how much of a bonus it provides to liberation, but if it doesn't or the bonus is low then it's a pretty worthless piece of junk if we don't get intel of potentially incoming attacks 48 hours before it'll happen, so we can actually move it preemptively.

Go to Mastia, get enough donation to activate the 3rd ability (orbital blockade) to stop the attack from Mastia.

I think it will be impossible to capture Mastia because it has -4%/h.

We are at 2% liberation with barely any people on there...

Besides, it doesn't matter. Orbital Blockade literally just turns off invasion originating from the planet it is activated on.

It seems to me that the ability to prevent an attack only works on attacks that have not yet begun, and attacks that have already begun cannot be prevented.

No, There only 0.72 liberation.

Orbital blockade says prevents attacks from happening, the attack is already happening though so the only chance is to get liberation bonus and take Mastia the old fashioned way.

If it's possible or not depends on two things, people actually going there and how much bonus the planetary bombardment gives to liberation once the DSS arrives there and enough people threw their rare samples away to activate it.

Do we actually know that it works this way? Gambits work differently - we take planet and the invasion fails. I don't see why the ability wouldn't work the same way. We effectively cut off logistics in either case.

We don't know, we'll find out but the wording is pretty clear, "prevents an attack from originating" to me does not sound like "cancels an attack originating from". Since this is a two day defense it would mean we have enough time to liberate Mastia if this is the case, but the playerbase at large probably won't go there to make it possible.

We can hope that it at least weakens the attack but why would we ever go for eagle storm then as an ability to help defense efforts?

Guess we'll find out either way. Not having it cancel attacks would be stupid though, given the time it takes to deploy and activate the DSS.

To use orbital blockade effectively we'd have to have intel 36 - 48 hours before an attack would go out so we could move it (24 hours vote time), otherwise it's just a waste of an ability. It's rare that it's obvious where an attack will come from like Mastia right now, but when the attack is starting seems kind of random and may not align with the 24 hour vote to move thing so... yeah, not very useful in most cases.
I think the idea behind the Orbital Blockade is that you can place it somewhere when you currently have no Major MO or the current MO is guaranteed to succeed. When there IS a major order you use Liberation or Defense.
