DSS! Finally!
After weeks of blood, sweat, and tears, our super weapon is online! Capable of bombarding planets from orbit, coordinating massive fleets of eagles, and single handedly forming a blockade, this think is all we ever dreamed of. Although it will be annoying in the next 24 hours dealing with all the crydivers whining about how it wasn’t a player hub or clan system, despite the fact that it was never advertised as those things

I dreamed about being able to use mini nukes as orbital attacks when the DSS is present in the same planet, but damn, only passives is incredibly boring. it doenst change the gameplay in anyway.

It’s not only passives. We can enable Eagle storm or orbital bombardment, the effects of which will supposedly be visible in gameplay as free barrages/eagle strikes

if that's the case, that would be real nice, but so far, reading the descriptions of those perks of the DSS, I feel like it's a passive that affects the planet but we dont get to use it.

more like: "oh the DSS is here, we will get less gunships and less planet decay"
i hope im wrong.

Read them. It said orbitals and eagles would occur throughout the mission. So we will see the effects in gameplay. I’m really hyped for this overall, given the huge sample costs and effort put into these things I imagine they wouldn’t disappoint us with mere passives. Either way, it’ll be cool enough just seeing that massive thing in the sky during missions
Little Leo Nov 13, 2024 @ 8:41pm
the passives sounds like a "targeted" asteroid storm like on those moon like planets. like a few minutes into a mission the top of the screen might say "The DSS is firing on high priority targets"

Its gonna get real fun when your taking out an automation heavy outpost then you get atomized by our new super weapon.

But its all theory until like 22 hours from now when the station actions are fueled up and ready to go. I'm just glad we have a small resource sink now so for the first time in 200 hours of gameplay I have a reason to pick up a common sample.

Yeah, that’s a worry of mine. If the targeting on these orbitals and eagles isn’t perfect, it’ll be frustrating getting
Bombed by something unpreventable. Hopefully there’s at least a 25m safe radius around the diver.

Eagles and orbital strikes? Wow, we didn't already have those as options!

During my few hours of gameplay, if there is one thing I've learned is that --this game hasn't heard about the word "perfect", ever.

Safe targeting?
In a game where you get stuck in geometry because there is a pebble,
where you break your bones from a dive due to impact damage if not just send you straight into an infinite ragdoll rolling,
where you can hear your own footsteps like rumbling but can't hear a 2 ton monster/machine walking up behind you,
where you need to pray to god and sacrifice three virgin chickens for the devil during an intense button smashing to -maybe- trigger a reload or stimpack use,
where 500KG bombs explode for touching a branch,
where divers stand up right away after a hit which sent them flying so they can be shot to death if survived the fall for some miracle,
where enemies just appear behind you one moment to another despite standing in the middle of a widely-open area
etc...

If bombardment will be as perfect as the rest of the game, then divers will not vote for "where to lead" the DDS, but for "where to keep it where it causes the least harm". :hfr_happy:

i have been fighting for this thing since x-45 months, thanks for joining in

Its currently charging up abilities (faster with donations) are:

Orbital Blockade:
Campaign bonus - Defense Campaigns cannot occur on its current location
Mission Bonus - Provides Hellpod Space Optimization by default, freeing a booster slot
Donations - 10k Requisition slips per day per Helldiver charges it up faster.

Planetary Bombardment:
Campaign bonus - Accelerates progress in Liberation campaigns.
Mission bonus - Periodic orbital bombardments available during missions.
Donations - 50 Rare Samples per day per Helldiver charges it up faster.

Eagle Storm:
Campaign bonus - Slows enemy progress in Defense campaigns.
Mission bonus - Periodic Eagle Airstrikes available during missions.
Donations - 75 Samples per day per Helldiver charges it up faster.

These are pretty fantastic and we can expect additions, upgrades and adjustments for it in the future, possibly in the form of research campaigns and MOs .

I honestly have never seen a better post on this forum.

Except it does not even properly do what it is supossed to. (It should have helped to solve the endgame caps for a while, it does not.)

Where is the Super Samples sink? How does putting a limit on donations helps getting rid of the endgame dilema of beaing maxed out? 10K requisition is nothing, 75 common is nothing, 30 red is nothing.

And to top it all off there is no way to spend Medals or Super Samples on anything DSS related.

The devs did not cook.

Sounds kinda lame since donations are capped, and there is no Medal or Super Samples option.

Well that is because people dream about what it could be and expect too much:) Rather to expect less and be surprised or at least not be disappointed:)

Many players dream like they will be walking around the station, chatting etc, clan rooms or what ever :) totally not realistic in this game:) It will be a sink spot for samples and other stuff and more strategic thing, than actually support one:)
