Blast protection light armor question.
So I love running light armor, but find I get occasionally one shot by the bots, likely due to a headshot from a rocket. Can any helldivers running the purchasable light armor with the 50% blast resistance confirm that it prevents them from similarly being oneshot?

...off topic has anyone else tried the plasma punisher again recently? The stuns enemies like the slugger used to, it's great. Especially seeing as Stalkers and Heavy Devastators were my biggest problem, and it stunlocks them to death.

Don't use light armor on bots mission if you plan to engange with bots and not just throw stratagem then gtfo, rocket more easily headshot you than medium & heavy armor due to slim armor, while medium & heavy most of the time the rocket explode on the front bulky part of armor , also it's better use medium armor with extra padding (+50 armor)

Rocket headshot can kill medium armor blast prot (enforcer armor), once I got that bot lucky shot, if it headshot when you die, your body headless

Heavy armor also bad imo, you walk slow sprint slow dive short, mean more time for bot to shred you

Rocket can kill you from impact damage (ragdoll then you hit rock or wall) so blast prot kinda overkill

With medium extra padding, only tank cannon , cannon tower, command bunker turret still oneshot you from direct hit

It's a great perk for sure though. My fav, I run it even on bugs because it's more resistance to the most dangerous enemy in the game; random Helldivers.

The plasma punisher is absolutely amazing on bots, knocks them around like lil' playthings. But it's too low damage to be viable on bugs in anything other than a support role, at which point, you're better off taking the Pummeler.

Its a big suvavability buff. It may not prevent headshot 1shots but you are far more resilient to rockets for bots and spew damage (counts as explosive) for bugs.

Oh shoot I had no idea the spew was explosive, that would be immensely helpful.
I was just thinking for bugs it would help me not get killed by fellow helldivers but that certainly makes it seem very useful.

Maybe what I want is the enforcer armor, since I know with the latest changes you need at least 100 armor to reduce headshot damage.
I do miss the light armor sprint for finishing all the points of interest in large maps though.

Hmm. I'm torn. I have been using the Democracy Protects armor since I don't have the Enforcer and it has saved me from those one-shots before.
Medium Extra Padding has been useful too, but I figured the enforcer would essentially be like having 200 armor (100 armor, with half damage from blast, = 200 effective armor?)
I fear I may have been convinced out of the light explosive resistance armor but I may need to try out the medium explosive resistance, but may end up just going right back to Democracy protects since it offers the best protection (a 50% counflip) against being oneshot.

It will prevent you getting headshot from the rocket devastators but the rocket raiders can still headshot you although their aim sucks but ♥♥♥♥ happens.

Democracy protects has 50% to avoid death, but based on luck, I have bad luck so yeah...

I once sent flying by charger, democarcy prot procs but the landing kill me...

Heavy devastator & strider can shred you quite easily, I believe 1 headshot / 2 shot from strider kill all 100 armor while 150 armor need 3 strider shoot

Tl;dr blast prot from medium armor is more than enough for rockets but laser shoot / heavy devastator will shred you to swiss cheese

My suggestion is for you to run blast prot medium armor then try extra padding medium armor and see which one suit you best

Btw if you plan helldive D9 solo, I recommend dont bother with protection, just take light scout armor (harder to detect), and watch this guide

Light gunner armour is my go-to
It is light armour with extra padding which gives it an armour rating of 100
I can confirm it makes a big difference and you can survive a direct rocket hit
You can also survive stepping on a landmine
Also, according to recent patch notes, "armours with armour rating of 100 or more get protection from headshots"
This means that the light gunner suit is the only light armour that hits this criteria and offers headshot protection
Try it, I love it on both bots and bugs

Yes, I like the purchasable fortified armor. I liked it better when I used it with the eruptor, so I didn't kill myself at close range. And yes, I used the plasma punisher recently. I used to really like it. Then it felt like they castrated it at some point. Today I took it on a whim because I'd been talking trash about it, and it actually felt decent again. Turns out my PP slaps if you arc it right, though apparently it does more damage if it travels further. I think if you had 2 raining down on the same targets they'd be really devastating. They're unconventional and fun, so they'll probably be nerfed soon though.

The basic armor (medium with extra padding) is dope since the headshot resistance buff from last patch. WIth both medium armor (which further reduces damage taken from 10% compared to light) and a total of 150 armor (headshot resistance starts at 100+ armor), you are guaranteed to survive 2 headshots in a row, have a decent mobility and are very resilient overall.

There are basically 3 ways to survive getting rocketed to the face.

Heavy armor (which is any armor with 101 armor or more because this provides 10% DR on headshots), Democracy Protects, and Vitality Booster.

Fortified armor (the blast protection) does not prevent headshots on light/medium. It will however allow you to eat entire volleys of rockets and walk it off, or even stepping on contact mines.

If you're getting oneshot by rockets it likely not because of headshots. It doesn't take much to kill you in light. A trooper rocket does more damage than other rocket, it seems, so that can just oneshot. Multiple Devastator rocket hits will kill you too.

Light explosion resist armor will prevent most oneshots, but you can still get unlucky and get blasted into a wall and die to impact damage.

If you want to really make sure you don't get one-tapped wear medium explosive resist armor, but it honestly isn't necessary. Just use cover better and be aware of your surroundings. One or two random deaths to rockets per mission really don't matter.

Plasma Punisher is easilly S-tier now vs. bots. Vs. bugs I would generally run something else, but it works.
