In the last few months i've never noticed it make even the slightest bit of difference unless its against those standard automaton troopers (that are lucky to last longer than two seconds anyway)
to be honest, it was better when rockets just one shot you even with fortified. at least then you weren't flung around like a gmod ragdoll
Ohoho, I remember that ALL too well. Getting a perfect rocket stream cleave your head off for peeking is classic Automaton gameplay. Also also, the Katyusha tank (All tanks for that matter. Where are the engine sounds? Track rattle? Ground shake?) are far too silent for how deadly they are. Even at point blank the rocket launch on it barely makes a sound.
I second that I did not notice any sort of suppression mechanic and I was running MGs.
It was never actually suppression, they mean directly shooting the targets to throw their aim off, I've noticed 0 suppression actually working at all tbfh. Only DIRECTLY hitting them, which is, again, not what suppression actually is, lol.
^ This. Their idea of suppression is stagger. I find I frequently cause a devastator to "roll its shoulders" if I hit it right in the face with a primary weapon (something not strong enough to kill it in one shot.). This isn't always a win as if it had stayed level I could have hit it with a second, third, etc shot and killed it out right. Now I have to wait for the animation to finish to shoot again. Sometimes I don't get that opportunity having to dodge or displace because of other enemy fire.
