heavy devastator is more annoying that rocket devastator
the most a rocket devastator can do is ragdoll you, it's damage is quite small, and the accuracy is no longer as annoying as I assume it used to be. You can kinda dodge the projectiles. Then shoot the thing in the head or even shoot off its missile launchers. On top of that the new gatling barrage stratgem easily kills rocket devastators... Whereas heavy devastators due to their shield can actually absorb the gatling barrage stratgem if they are facing the incoming jet.

Heavy devastators also have significantly higher damage and amazing accuracy. Being able to suppress you from great ranges. Taking them down with a conventional weapon, say Tenderizer can be really difficult, as their gun's hitbox is very small compared to the rocket devastator's missile pods, so it's not as easy to disarm them.

The way to kill a heavy devastator is to get some sort of a diversion and then quickly shoot it in the head. But if you do not have the chance to do that, you simply die. Because the dps of the thing is high enough to kill you quite honestly instantly.

Whilst true that taking cover helps. The amount of bots spawning and how they move towards you to eventually surround you, makes it so that you have to kill them quite fast. And on top of that the pauses in-between heavy devastator bursts are very short compared to that of a rocket devastator. Making it hard to peak from cover and kill it effectivelly.

posting this here cause I saw some idiots on reddit talking about how strong rocket devas are

This sounds like an energy shield problem that I'm too ballistic shield to understand

True, shield devastators are a bigger threat as they are harder to kill head-on without cover.

Try to time your attack, they fire in bursts. Shoot them directly in the face and hope for the best.
Can stun/knock them with (stun) grenades as well.

Autocannon makes short work as every hit will make them completely move their shield to the side as they get staggered.
I'm using the HMG a lot lately and they can be onetapped if you land a headshot, but that can be impossible if they're actively firing at you.

Rocket devastators can be outmaneuvered by running away from their rockets, plus they usually just sent you flying instead of killing you (unless you bring light armor).

their immunity against piercing damage makes them really obnoxious against the mechs which have limited ammo and have to be really precise about killing their targets... What annoying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ design that is. 10 minutes and you don't even get to have enough ammo to kill a heavy devastator without worrying about it.

I've just been packing the laser lately, otherwise I'm screwed on ammo. It's BiS to me right now just for that reason. Only let down is factory doggos but the Oribtal Strike is great right now so nbd

Most of the automatons issues become less of an issue with two tools: stun grenade and supplies pack. In my opinion supplies pack is way better than shield pack, you can stim your way out of the Valley of Death, while the shield, when is gone, it's 10 seconds of gamble with death.

Rocket devastators are not a big problem after AH nerfed the insane accuracy of bots rocketeers...heavy devs don't miss a shot.

you need to try the gatling barrage. It's miraculous against devas and scouts. They might nerf it soon, because it's too generalist in nature. So, strike it while it's hot.

I agree; they should buff the rocket devastator.
That'd also fix the ragdoll issue.

if they reduced spawns to make them more believable instead of it just being spam, then I wouldn't mind rockets of rocket devastators and automaton infantry dealing more damage.

Yeah, I have been using it against bugs and it's awesome, I don't think they will nerf it.

Funny thing, I used it before the buff, in my AC build, to keep chaff on check while I am reloading the Auto-Cannon.

Rocket devs used to one shot the player back in the day, before the devs fixed explosive damage. Now they're just really, REALLY annoying.

Patch notes say they fixed the bug where heavies would shoot sideways. Haven't played bots much, did it work?

Bring a primary that can stagger, hit its open spot in the upper left (while looking at them face to face) then shoot:

1) its head
2) its leg
3) its gun arm

or bring an energy based primary with aoe stagger

btw once you hide and they start suppression fire, if you can sneak away without getting into their LOS, they will still think you're behind that rock/wall so you can get them from the side or behind. Even hulks do this.

I do think berserk are the worst "devastator" kind since their huge HP wall that come in huge numbers (with some missions where they will spawn in each patrol) and will throw you out from your cover (when they doesn't sneak on you from a suprise patrol spawn in your back while you are shooting those devastators you doesn't like too much) but it may be linked to difficulty/numbers of players
Sanglaine Jun 17, 2024 @ 12:21pm
Heh. I vaguely remember you complaining about rocket devas a while back singularity. Good to see you coming around to realizing how much worse heavy devas are.

Best solutions to heavy devas are stun nades and exploiting their wide shot angle. I.E. pull them around corners and hills where their gatling can't get an angle.

But taking care of them in the open is a nightmare due to their RIDICULOUS accuracy. Too bad that line about suppressing autos with gunfire is total BS.
Husker_85 Jun 17, 2024 @ 12:26pm
I have a theory:

What if ALL the balance changes that have ever come to the game are in an effort to punish players who run off on their own instead of sticking with the team? What if the devs are just trying -really- hard to force players to bring complementary loadouts?

Brothers. I present you the apex weapon against the bot menace: Eagle strafing run.

This thing is so good, 5 uses, medium and heavy penetration, it can kill vents on fabricators (and bug holes I guess) and it is, once again, 5 uses. Also has a faster call-in time than the airstrike by 2 seconds. It's so ridiculously time-on-target that it's unfair to the enemy.
