Orbital Scattering negative modifier needs to go next.
Orbital Scattering is the effect that makes your Orbitals completely miss every time you use them. It essentially makes Orbitals useless outside of Rail Cannon.

The devs need to take a simple approach to analzying whether a modifier is good or not:
Does this modifier make the game more fun or less fun for the player?

Let's apply this question to Orbital Scattering:
Is the player having more fun or less fun when they throw an Orbital directly on a target and the Orbital lands somewhere else having zero effect? This should be an easy question to answer.

I don't entirely hate it because it makes you rely on Eagles and switch up your loadout accordingly. However, if that was the effect they were going for, might as well just make it lock your orbitals.

They should really introduce a mechanic to counteract it, like pay requisition and samples to make your ship shoot straighter or something.

I mean...its a pretty pointless modifier as it does not have a significant effect on anything other than the barrages...which are in themselves already a situational use orbital as they dont get much use outside popping bunkers or striders :evadebullets:

You could easily make the effect more exciting by having it not only add a larger spread to call ins but also double the shot count, sort of like you cannot pinpoint the enemy on that planet but command has given you extra ammo to compensate.

FYI the barrages are so powerful that a single direct impact will kill any enemy in the game, the catch is they have very long cool downs are are kinda wasted on small enemies as the blast radius isnt that large. Which is why everyone uses eagle airstrike :evadebullets:

It's horrible. A modifier I will avoid after going on a few ops without checking and suffering from my precision strikes being useless and sometimes going for me directly instead, since bile titans and behemoth chargers like to be in the danger close distance.

Having a sub-objective to counter the effects of certain modifiers would be a good method of balancing it out without removing it in the entire, and at the same time allowing a deeper layer onto the game.

When it comes to the Orbital Scattering modifier, having a new sub-objective such as "Deploy Signal Booster" to counter the effect would be an interesting approach to handling it.

Maybe just reduce it to 10-15% deviation.

Also they should add back the AA defenses, instead of removing a stratagem slot, affect Eagle Strats some way, as someone did suggest already.

I've made a thread discussing just that:

There is no problem with negative modifers, there is a problem with not being able to counter them.

For example, we should be able to spend samples and requisition to do something like intel gathering to counter spores
Raising a com tower should remove the scatter debuff
We should be able to find a comm pack that is a backpack item that counters Ion storms for the team as long as some one has it.

This is false. Orbital Precision, Gatling, and Airburst, and Gas are all severely affected by this modifier. Precision can be used to one shot Bile Titans, Chargers, and structures, and with this modifier it will just completely miss those targets, rendering it useless. Orbital Airburst Strike and Gatling are both potent anti-Breach stratagems and they can completely miss the breech if you use them with the Orbital Scattering negative modifier. Gas is also decent against breeches and once again can just totally miss. And good luck using any of them on a patrol when the patrol starts off in motion and can't be "camped" as they spawn from a breech.

This is a terrible idea and severely punishes new players who have not reached the cap. Either remove negative modifiers like this or allow in game side objectives to remove the penalties.

The 3 slots modifier, to be honest, I was fine with it, in other games there are debuffs for players to increase diffculty and challenge. I would like a mechanic to get back the 4th slot if you do a difficult sidequest in the map though.

But Orbital scattering is a totally RNG mechanic and the only counterplay is...don't use orbitals. Agree with other users here, it should exist a counterplay in the map to remove the effect.

The delay in deploying is far worse. That has to be removed from the game or as suggested before they should let you counteract it with something. It's hard enough hitting a moving target with an orbital without the stupid delay.

Arrowhead math is as follows.

Challenging = Frustrating
