Helmet Modifiers
So capes I can understand being purely cosmetic, but helmets serve a valuable purpose in combat. Not suggesting we alter the stats, just add modifiers to helmets.

For example:
We could have helmets that go with Scout themed armour increase the detection range of POIs.

My current crop of suggestions for helmet modifiers, feel free to add more, and respectfully critique each others.

- Increase Detection Range of POIs
- Increase range of stimming a fellow Helldiver by %/meters
- Viewable Grenade and Stratagem explosion/effect radius
- Highlights weakpoints
- Decreased lock-on time for Spear
- Highlight enemies through fog

It's being discussed among devs for a while now

It was actually planned originally for helmets to have their own passives, like night vision and even change the HUD, but at some point that was cut

I'd very happy if they just had the standard passives we have already, so I could mix and match 2 passives

Good to know!

I wish armor modifiers could be assigned. Shame to have nice looking armors stuck with bad perk combinations.

I really don't like the idea of helmets having effects. Most helmets do not go well together with most armors. If I wanted the helmet effect from another armor set, I'd have to use the helmet from another armor set which will almost definitely clash aesthetically.

Obviously transmog would solve this, but...

Well if they actually implement that recolor system among with helmet passives, that would be really awesome

Aye, but those helmets are generally themed, so the modifier on it would match the theme. For example, there's an orange engineer set that gives you bonus grenades, wearing the matching helmet with a explosion radius modifier would look good and function well together.

The two sets in Democratic Detonation share the same armour perks, so they'd have the same helmet perks, so you're not locked into one set of armour, and if people want to mix and match, they can.

A transmog system would be nice as well, I'd be using the ones with a cyborg arm all the time as a visual.

Scout helmets or a HUD themed helmet like the Steel Trooper helmet with its DBZ-style scouter could have the minimap permanently enabled without you having to hold TAB to access it. Lets you know if some nonsense is sneaking up on you. Could be very useful.

Apparently they originally wanted to make each helmet have different huds and functionality, but they had to cut it cuz it was taking too long and they had to ship the game
I hope they do eventually add it

I don’t think this game can handle anymore injections of spaghetti code.
If adding in something you originally took out is “too hard” then it’s doomed.

Needs night vision for dark maps, heat vision in extreme weather (dust storm/blizzard/spore), sample proximity radar at the very least.

Also include them taking colors from the body armor. Allows more visual combinations that is uniform. Maybe add a button to disable color adaptation if not desired.

Colour sync based on body armour? Could be done, SWTOR's had that for years.
