Add ability to reload mechs and sentries
First of lets talk about sentries...
I dont understand why they they dissemble them self after time, why cant they keep firing till they have no ammo, so what if we can spawn and stack them? Its gonna take to much time to be easily "abused"
But mainly people with supply packs should be able to reload mechs and sentries.
Lets say 4 packs to reload full mech and 2 packs to reload sentry?
I dont see any reason to why not especial with increased amount of heavy targets we need more firepower.
This is not overpowered, as person "abusing" combos like this will most certainty not gonna have any eagle strikes nor orbital strikes, plus no special weapon

I've always liked the idea of a call down with like boxes of ammo in it for the mech, the you have to run over and pick it up, with both hands, it slows you down like the AA shells

and you have to carry it over to the mech and put it in to rearm it.

That way it both takes up another slot in your call downs and takes time to reload, making it some what balanced.

well, we already have upgrades for the sentries, making their ammo last longer. It would probably be a bit much if you could just keep them up indefinitely. It's one thing with one person doing it, but you could basically build gun batteries that just wipe out everything if it didn't have some limit.

Reloading the mech should definitely be a thing though. Ammo scarcity is their biggest weakness, aside from the paper armor. In Helldivers 1 there was a backpack item to repair the mech, though i don't remember if it let you rearm it too.

If you think about it though, its not as OP as you say, if you have to carry the boxes to the turret to resupply it, you are not shooting yourself, so thats taking a gun out of the fight already.
but the supply drop wouldn't last for ever either it would just mean a turret can survive a little bit more.

I'd be ok with reloading sentries and mechs. There is already a soft cap on just how much ammo you can drop into the mission and requiring a supply backpack would work out in the long run.

Though I doubt they're going to rework turret. Mech I have more hope for since it's not an automated process of the mech suddenly imploding the second it's out of ammo.

I can see it now. *mech runs out of ammo with someone still inside* BOOM! instant dead

well, you can call the supply drop down right next to the turrets, so it wont take that long to carry stuff, even if you have to use the carry slow-walk. You probably wouldn't need everyone to do it. As for how OP... well, let's say they put down a mortar, EMS mortar, autocanon and either another autocanon or a gatling sentry.

Add on top of that the firepower of the teammates who aren't busy reloading stuff, and nothing is getting through that. I mean hell, people already used to do that without turret reloads.

You are talking about a coordinated team, this is something that should be possible if you are all together.
but in randoms this is very unlikely to happen.

and if it's to easy just keep going up in difficulty, that is what they are there for and why there are so many in this game.

it's a real challenge for the devs to balance this game because you have people playing on medium and complaining it's to easy.
or you have people playing on helldive claiming its to hard.

the problem runs deeper than that but I think you get the idea.

the reloading and carrying things like that would add an awesome level of cooperation kind of like the buddy weapons.

No. Give us the ability to rip the weapons off the sides of mech and attach our own support weapons. This is how they should have worked in the first place. Like Lost Planet mechs.
Portico Jun 16, 2024 @ 5:27pm
Bad idea. And runs counter to the games fantasy.

The way I'd do it would be that a "rearm exosuit" stratagem would be added.

The pelican swoops down, picks it up, flies away.

Some time later, you can call your mech back, and the pelican drops off a freshly repaired and rearmed mech.

That isn't a bad idea really.

Or a ship drops and a repair/resupply drone pops out and repairs/resupplies the mech.
