Agreed. It has been ridiculous since the last patch.

How do you think they're going to keep funding the game's development? They have to keep adding content. But at the same time fixing what they can with each patch. And they can't just hire more people. Those people need to then be trained by the same people that are already working on the game. Because they're using a game engine that was abandoned by it's developer. And they've been using that engine for 8+ years. So by now it's probably frankencode so newbies need to learn it's ins and outs.

Not stupid ideas, I do enjoy improvements and new content but when the game crashes every time I accidentally hit Escape or open any of the menus and I hear that it’s happening for others as well, I start to wonder exactly how this was not noticed by the devs. Second, leaving us with broken software for the weekend really shows just how much you care about us, just saying, release an update with new content because there’s an opportunity to make money, but why fix bugs, you don’t get paid to do that, that’s not a priority, just clock out and enjoy your weekend, screw us; that’s how it feels. I really heard good things about the game devs for this game and I was hopeful that they wouldn’t do such a thing as leave it broken for the weekend, but that’s what happened. Prove me wrong and hotfix today, and you will earn both the greatest respect from me and of the community, instead of the latter…

"train new people" ORrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr just hire the people who can do the things they are asked to do... it's not like you got 20 000 + people looking for jobs in the game industry right now because of the lay offs... Just saying.

Also yeah using stingray was a bad call because like you mentioned it's abandoned and even when it was "alive" was one of the worst engine you could use to make a game... But hey it's free so they used that one to not have to pay royalties to unity or unreal...

Everytime they fix something they break 100 other things, they had a small budget the game blew up in popularity when it came out and they just rush the next patches without testing them properly (that also one big problem to not have some QA even some sony QA since sony owns the game IP and all...I mean since that last patch pressing escape crashes the game for so many people it's ridiculous to think they didn't saw that... ) I also can guess that if there is a helldivers 3 it won't be made by arrowhead for sure, since that track record of problems with every SINGLE patch they released so far.

I'd rather have them delay the warbounds for a solid month or two so they can fix as much as they can instead of putting a ban aid everytime they mess up a patch.

As for now after every big update was barrely playable for 2 days minimum and pushign a patch on thursday or friday is DEFINITLY not a thing you should do when you want to react with a hot fix, but they do it again and again, I love this game but in term of trust and confidence in the team capacity it's now void and nul.

Yeah this has been crashing a lot more today. Going into missions, coming out of mission and mid mission. Crash-tastic!

Ah and yeah also other bugs, some ennemies are missing parts and some elements in the landscape show a big massive red question mark (hello there missing prefab)

I'm not gonna say that there aren't special kinks to AutoDesk Stingray that something like Unity doesn't experience, and I'm sure that the programmers there are likely cooking some heavy spaghetti with their workflow.

But after looking at the manual, it seems that it uses C++ and Lua which are two insanely common languages, in addition to its own visual-oriented programming called Flow. Flow is very equivalent to the visual programming approach Unity uses. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the program isn't all that different from standard development tools on the market today, although perhaps it may be more primitive in some ways. Training someone to use this tool would be very easy compared to some hyper specialized in-house engine like the ones you would see back in the day.

That said, I found this page to be extremely funny given the current state of the game.
I'm guessing between me and AGS, I'm the only one that read the manual? lol

Playtesting Your Game

Game development demands constant testing.

Even though the authoring tools and workflows are designed to give you previews of your levels and content that are as accurate as possible, there is no substitute for the real thing. Not only do you have to test all the content you are working hard at creating -- models, animations, lighting, level design, AI, user interfaces, audio -- to make sure that they are working the way you want. Not only do you have to make sure that all of these subsystems behave together in conjunction as you expect. You also have to keep a close eye on your memory usage, performance, and frame rate.

The topics in this section provide details about the various ways that you can playtest your game and get information about what is happening under the hood at runtime.

Only asking because I'm interested, why do you think this? Did you have experience with this engine, or was there another game that I can learn about that explains why this engine is hated? From what I'm reading it seems like the engine leaves a lot of control to the user, so any issues should be programmer ignorance I imagine. I'd like to know more about why you think it's the worst engine you could use to make a game.

How about adding content that's not complete garbage then overcharging for it? Make it worth the money, the past 2 Warbonds have been and are still atrocious.

They'd first need to figure out how to un-spaghetti the code.

I've given up. This game ran smooth at release. Every patch since there has cause frames to drop and not fix the problem. It doesn't matter what DLSS method or if I change resolution to lower setting. I get frames at 40 to 50 fps.
