Moderators said that was rude and told people to stop.
People didn't stop.
Bans happened.
People got worse.
More bans happened.
Everyone who did this did get banned, but it really demonstrates how petty the mod is given that this would have blown over if they didn't make a huge deal of it. Asmongold and a few other youtube reaction type guys caught wind of it so it spread pretty far outside the community.
He forgot the part where people asked if they could react negatively to fan art and the moderators stated "people are welcome in this case to use thumbs down or something similar". EDIT: This was asked and responded to but it was only 1-2 hours after people got banned.
People were banned without warning (speculating based on how fast it happened and the quantity involved). -END EDIT-
18 minutes later. 30 people got banned for reacting negatively within a 1-minute time frame.
Less than an hour later - bot ban logs started getting deleted to cover it up.
Less than 24 hours later - Emojis are turned off. Users can now not see if even thumbs downers were banned also. EDIT: You can still see the original image with all negative emojis removed. Photos in the later posts.
Then:

You forgot to add
The thumb downers that were banned did not merely use thumb downs, but were actively ban baiting to test how far they could go before a ban would happen.
They got banned. QQ about it, then more tried and more got banned.
Mommy says not to put your hand in the blender as it is dangerous. The idiot sibling who loves to piss mommy off *proceeds to dangle hand over blender, then slowly lowers in it*
Mommy stores the blender.
"WAAAAAAAHGH!!!" - idiot sibling.
The 'you can thumbs down' post was almost 2 hours after the 'you'll get banned for vomit reacting' post.
The screenshots people are posting shows that the THUMBS UP OK statement was made at 12:13AM and the bans happened at 12:38AM but its possible the time stamps are reflective of different time zones coming from different sources so you maybe right.
Pretty sure the other guy had that covered?
Unfortunately, the post from the moderator regarding temp-banning people for the vomit emotes seems to be gone now, so I can't prove it. Most I can find is one of the comments they made AFTER that post, which was still 1hr before Purplepidgeon's comment about people being allowed to thumbs-down.

Those were both just taken right now.
Yeah I ran a search. Some of the dialogue definitely got deleted and I can't remember the exact contexts of each message since chat was flooding so fast at the time.
Based on the evidence "https://imgur.com/43l4VO5", you would be correct that the moderators statement came 1-2 hrs after people started spamming emojis. I see no signs of tampering such as (edit) for it either so the message seems genuine.
The actual implication is worrying still though if they're banning people without warning.
I am trying to check if an earlier dialogue may have occurred where the moderators said it was OK to react to it before the bans happened since I am not dismissing the possibility that they could have and then deleted it after like the ban logs.
This is of course speculation. If everything is deleted I have no way of proving it. I am just considering it since the time stamps of the screenshots tell a different story but can still be explained by being provided by different sources in different time zones.
