Why does Helldivers 2 updates take so long and lock up my system?
My system right now is locked up because of this update. Even my internet is locked up. If there are any techie guys out there that can look over my system specs and give me a reason as to why this is, it would be much appreciated. It's been at 45% for the last hour.

12th gen intel processor i712700 20 CPUs 3.6GHz
16 gig ram
Geforce RTX3080 display memory 10 gig

I can't post the whole Dxdiag file here because it's too long and Steam won't let me.

I'm facing the same issue right now. They even have reddit posts about this.

Dan it's not my internet. the patch downloaded in 5 minutes. It's the install that is the problem. :/

This is worse than a Windows update.

Do you have just one ssd or hard drive? Depending on how much free space you have it can take awhile to patch things. If the drive you have the game installed on is low on space, Steam will copy the game to another drive with enough space, patch it then copy it back over the old version on the install drive. If it is a hard drive to ssd, it will take longer since a hard drive is slower.

I've got heaps of space on my hard drives. I don't have an SSD though.

The patching process is about Disk I/O. The slower the drive, the slower the process will take. If you aren't bandwidth limited, on large patches like this it makes more sense to uninstall and then download. The download will have all updated files.
