Why do these updates take ages to download/patch?
I know this is more of a steam problem than it is a Helldivers problem, but why the HELL do i have to rewrite EVERY single file of my game for an update?

I did it with the main update, then with the small hotfix (only patching out stratagem spam), even for the tiny hotfix i had to spend up to an hour to rewrite every single file.

I'm currently at 2 out of 11 gb's for this update, with a little over 2 hours left!!
(M2 990 pro SSD, 32gb RAM, 7700x, not even a bottleneck on the hardware side.

It might genuinely be faster to just completely uninstall and redownload the game rather than constantly rewriting everything for every update.
Is there any trick to bypass this BS or is this just the way it has to be?

I have no idea since they added basically nothing to the game.

I had a 11mb patch the other day that took over 1 hour to download and patch. the game is installed on an M.2 SSD. so its not the drive but the games updating method.

If you have a faster internet, it might be faster to redownload the game than update.

Yeah that was the tiny hotfix, i had the exact same problem.
I've had this in other games a few times too, i think it has to do with the way steam handles updates, but on the other hand 90% of the time (even with this game) small updates will just be quick.

I'm clueless as to why some updates like the last 3 here need to do a full rewrite of all files, costing at least an hour to do.

check background processes when downloading, i only got like 130 running at anytime in task manager and never takes more then 3 mins to patch
