Warthog (FRV) Etiquette.
First let me say that I totally understand Divers who refuse to hop in when I pull up. I'm pretty good at driving the Warthog, but I'll still sometimes get stuck or even roll the thing. To be sure, the number of times I've been thrown or killed as a passenger gives me pause when someone else is the driver.

But if I see you running for your life from a mob or swarm of enemies, and instead of hopping in, you start messing around like calling in a Supply Drop or something, I'm leaving you. If I pull up while you're running for your life and you veer off completely away from me, I as the driver will respect your choice for the rest of the mission.

Basically, if someone pulls up and you don't want to get in, again for understandable reasons, then that's your choice. But I've died way too many times waiting for divers to accept a taxi to ever do it again.

So yes, if I see you getting swarmed, I WILL pull up, and I'll even give a couple of honks just in case you don't see me in your periphery. But you have to the count of 5. I won't be overrun with you, and I'm certainly not sticking around while you read your map while the zombies crash into us. You can read the map in the jeep.

And now you know.

If i refuse to get in the FRV, either i am trying to be quiet and run side obj. while you draw dropships and do mains, or i think theres a high likelyhood ima be killed cause you think its a monster truck.
I will always comms. this to you tho in the form of a neg. thumbs emote.

*edit* if im getting swamped and in the poo, thats on me, dont pull up, do democracies work and complete the mission!

You can usually tell in the first five seconds if riding with someone is a death wish. Usually before you even get in.

Hilarious full team wipes happen with the FRV though, and it's not always the drivers fault.

Once someone becomes even decent with driving it becomes pretty clear who is still learning.

I enjoy the FRV on larger/longer maps. Honestly the most difficult and time consuming experience the FRV has is, waiting for people to get the F in. Amazes me the amount of times a bile titan or flame hulk is behind someone and they rather do a little dance than get into the vehicle.

Nah you didnt get left behind intentionally. You were left behind because you far exceeded the risk factor of the vehicle and people already in it waiting on your slow decision maker.

Remember: P.A.R.K.

Patience:
Don't stomp the throttle, but carefully choose your speed.

Awareness:
Look out for any obstacles such as minor terrain deformation, rocks or even enemies. Also watch out for your teammates, either to avoid hitting them or to pick them up as passengers.

Resilience:
Don't let minor challenges like popped wheels, missing doors or difficult terrain discourage you. A good driver adapts to the conditions.

Knowledge:
Experiment with different driving techniques, share your knowledge and check out what wisdom others can give you.

I am absolutely looking forward to the combat motorcycle!!

And yes, having a gatling turret in the back instead of the HMG would be cool, but I think it'd make it TOO much like the UNSC's Warthog. HMG does rip though.

They don't read.

Understood. 3 seconds instead of 5, that should let be enough to figure it out.

And yes, I do find that if no one takes the gun or hops in, the FRV can STILL excel at drawing enemy fire. Teammates can then either kill the distracted enemies, or escape.

It IS hilarious. Sometimes to provide close support, I'll hop out of the driver's seat and take the gun. That's when a teammate might take the wheel, and if they're good it's great. But most of the time they're not, and we find out real quick.

Precisely.

I’ve only used it for Super Credit farming on low level missions. How does it perform on difficulty 10? I’d imagine all of the enemies would kills it pretty fast. Do they target it even if no one is inside?
You could be the greatest driver in Helldiver's. The moment the front tires hit a 2-inch rise in terrain, I'm rolling a D20 for whether or not I get turned into smushed raspberries.

This, you can be driving smooth as a baby and it only takes one lil scav bug to flip the whole car and kill everyone in a blaze of glory.

A bit of advice when it comes to FRV etiquette: Explain yourself before the mission starts. State something like "Hey I'm bringing in an FRV and I want to drive and transport you guys around" or "If I drive up and honk my horn, I'm going to wait a few seconds to let you in then drive off, if you don't want in, please use the "negative" emote and I'm good." Something like that. Expecting rando's to do what you want is not going to work. It is just the nature of rando's. Best to explain yourself clearly.

No matter the difficulty, the enemies HATE the FRV, and WILL chase it. It's one of its biggest strengths; keeping the enemy distracted, focused on you while (hopefully) your team mates have less trouble. Even without a gunner, it's fast enough to stay ahead of most pursuers.

I'm not doing this before every mission. Not that these aren't helpful tips for teammates who don't want a ride. A nice "negative" would save me the 3 count. But the point of the post is itself the announcement. I don't expect randos to do what I want, but I do, or at least did, expect them to have enough sense to not call down a resupply and then stand there waiting for it as the angry mob of zombies swarms all over their position, when they had a perfectly good transport right in front of them.

Maybe you're right though; it was too much to expect. But the bottom line is: I'm not dying nor risking the ride, or anyone who might be in the Warthog, for people like this anymore.

Hence the Etiquette Announcement. From the Driver's side, I'm declaring the Universal 3 Count. Fail to get in after 3, and get left. This should be right up there with "Don't shoot across the hood or over the roof, you'll kill you teammates." No one should have to recite a litany at the start of every mission.
