Ultimatum Secondary
Thoughts on the weapon. Worth it or not against Automatons? If not Automatons, which enemy faction does it work best against to you?

ultimatum is to automatons what grenade pistol is to bugs, tbh
I'm really enjoying it. Just having something that can help kill larger enemies in one shot when hitting it directly and hitting objectives that are buildings at any angle really adds on to the vast versatility to builds in this game.
Its a lot of fun to use, also the Siege-Ready armor passives increases the max ammo for it too
On bots, it's a good QoL utility gun for blowing up jammers and spotter towers.

As an actual weapon though, it's mediocre. Can kill heavies if you score a direct hit, but the range is abysmal and ammo economy is worse than that of Spear's. AoE radius is fairly small too. It's a funky little thing.

It's decent but you need to be really good with your accuracy for it because of how the damage works. It does 4,500 damage on paper, but only if you directly hit something with it as 3,500 points of that damage is from the direct impact. The other 1,000 is the explosion

So if you want to kill something like a hulk you need to directly hit it otherwise it'll live, even if you hit the ground right next to it

It takes awhile to learn how the shot arcs and it's slow moving as well
Its goofy fun, but 2 total shots with it is kind of garbage. Because of the range limitation and weird arc, It's not SO good that it warrants having the ammo limited like that. IMO, double the ammo capacity to 4. It's fun, let people have fun with it more than twice.

That said, AoE is large enough and it does enough damage that you don't have to thread a needle with it to seal bug holes like you do with grenades and the grenade pistol. But again, 2 shots.

it will completely invalidate the grenade pistol then

i think they should lean more into the "very low ammo, very big boom" quality of the gun
Fun as hell. Sweatlords are hating it, but I play this game to blow stuff up, so Ultimatum and the portable hellbomb are amazing IMHO.

It's insanely good if you like to bring an AP4 support weapon like the HMG, AMR or Laser Cannon on the bot front and you want to use something other than Thermite grenades to deal with heavy targets in a pinch.

It's essentially a pocket anti-tank + some AoE with a bit of a learning curve to it, and immediate effect unlike Thermites.

And it can blow up structures like Stratagem Jammers too, which is completely busted and kind of defeats the main appeal of the portable Hellbomb.

Today's Helldivers' *ultimate* line: "LAST RELOAD".

It is a bad competitor for ammo packs. Not everyone checks the symbols of other players but wanna get that big BOOM. So the balancing is to use it reasonably even if it's fun, at least at some point in time. Worth to mention that armors' siege perk rounds the 2 shots up to 3 while an ammo pack grants obviously only one shot.

It's not good performance wise, or even useful, but it is fun. So worth it only for the variety
It's mostly a utility secondary for quickly knocking out certain side objectives, like jammers and sauron eyes.
it can one shot a lot of heavies but only if you hit them directly with the actual projectile, the explosion alone won't do it.
It's also kinda meh against groups. The explosion LOOKS huge but the damage area doesn't seem very large. It has the same thing going on as the pre-buff 500kg, big boom but not a lot of area gets covered by it. Fired it into a clump of devs and chaff bots on a d10 eradicate and got like 5 kills.
Not to mention the horrendous ammo economy, pitiful range and wacky firing arc.
its great. it one shot bile titans, chargers, tanks, hulks. pocket orbital precision strike. its just great

It is very good for taking down Jammer and Spotting tower. It can also take down command bunker as well as emergency AT weapon. Definitely automaton go to weapon
