Bringing in a light primary just gimps your gameplay to a factor of 10 on bots.
If you aren't running a medium pen primary you are a lead weight around your teams neck.
I like having the option of blasting their chest "weakspot" and kill them fast anyway.

One of the main reasons why the DCS is better is being able to kill both strider variants with it. Give them both just a couple nut shots and they die. This lets you take down almost every bot enemy the game throws at you from the front and without having to swap weapons. With the regular diligence you're forced to having to try for a trick shot by aiming at their rockets or by flanking said strider or by swapping weapons
Scythe or Dominator will do the same job though. In fact the tenderizer on burst is a better diligence rifle for its role. Purifier is just better than the rest currently. Though the supply pack makes any weapon viable.
Against bugs, the CS variant gets more uses (mainly against the bile spewer since you can't damage the head/legs), but the worse handling and ammo economy makes it tedious against other light bugs, so the basic Diligence is more practical overall.
It's better to take a secondary with medium armor penetration in case you must help with medium. I find the Loyalist to be very good, and since you probably won't be too close to the fight most of the time, you can afford charged shot for stagger and big damage.
I find that it's a nice light pen weapons since you can use it at long range, taking down isolated/flanking targets quickly while the big pack is taken care of. Nicely paired with a SPEAR for a fast heavy-kill at medium-long range.
Which explains why most players prefer the DCS
Or people who like the DCS more like that you can kill striders with it which are a very common enemy on bot maps. I prefer to be able to kill them without having to swap weapons and it's quite easy to do with the DCS with a few nut shots
I do agree that the Diligence is a fine weapon for the bot side and a pox on anyone who thinks it sucks. Skill issue. Get good. The only things I can't kill with it are heavily armored targets and that's why I bring rockets and stratagems.
Not able to hit targets 200meters away: check
By that logic why not just use the revolver.
