Squid. Allies.

No, really, I think this might be interesting! So back in the first galactic war in Helldivers 1, we know that the Illuminate societies are under the despotic tyranny of AI entities known as the Great Eyes, right? They essentially controlled the Squids. Even when the Illuminate was defeated and their entire race was supposedly wiped out, it was the Great Eyes who negotiated the peace treaty with Super Earth (alleged, pending confirmation) before being forced out of our galaxy, NOT the Squid aliens themselves.

We can assume that the Illuminate that returned today, are mere puppets of the Great Eyes, "revived" in sinister undemocratic genetic engineering techs. They even abducted human colonists and turn them into foot soldiers of their despotic regime!

So, what if, there are Squid survivors? Both freed of the Great Eyes' control and was not wiped out during the first galactic war. Listen, it may sound treasonous to even think about it, but what if we get some Squids helping us? Like, they probably also hate the Great Eyes or whatever sinister forces that controlled the Illuminate societies, and decided to adopt human Managed Democracy in defiance against their former masters of tyrannical despotic AI abominations?

Gameplay-wise this can be an excuse to reuse the Illuminate aesthetics from the first game, contrasting the current evil-corrupted sinister looks of the invaders. Also, Illuminate weapons and stratagems, anyone?

I highly highly doubt it. would it be cool? yes. I would love the squith to be characterized similar to the elites from halo. Is it likely at all? not remotely at this point. its much more likely that the great eyes that ran squith society were actually almost perfect rulers, that simply would not make the sacrifices in their peoples QOL to defeat super earth during the first galactic war. what we're probably seeing is that the great eyes from outside the galaxy have went through programming drift. This is due to the original squith being completely exterminated. their new prime directive is probably to simply to exterminate humanity as effectively as possible while working from a place of almost no resources. This is because they have concluded that as long as humanity persists any society they create for the squith will ultimately be exploited and destroyed by super earth. Its also likely that the eye's have been planning this from the start. giving humanity the dark fluid was done on purpose, because the EYE's knew Super Earth couldn't help but abuse it, even without fully understanding it. It's also very likely that the reason the automatons rose up was because the cyborgs were provided with enhanced squith technology while they were imprisoned on cyberstan.

Then again, I would love to play as a 8 foot tall squith, with a plasma cannon stick. Lol. just gimme some elite style active camo. Im a huge sangheli-boo, lol.

The Live Story says we started the war with them because they had a Starwars planet killer weapon.
We wiped that ancient alien race out of our galaxy somehow.

I would love to be at that negotiation table to find out how the hell we could ally with them.
Both races would be waiting for a knife in the back.
They are only interested in our black hole.

We wiped that ancient alien race out of our galaxy somehow.

I would love to be at that negotiation table to find out how the hell we could ally with them.

But hey, if AH sticks to the "Great Eye is the actual leader" lore from the first game, at least the Squid and Human have a common enemy: the despotic AI that's controlling the corrupted Illuminate
