Why did the game become easy?
Me and my mates are just casually waltzing through level 10s, even with just 3 of us.

We used to struggle so much - what happened?

Any chance there will be additional difficulty levels? We love the game but it's becoming really stale now.

You've answered your own question, I'm afraid.

People struggled on higher difficulties and didn't like it; so they petitioned for things to change, leading to a large wave of weapon/stratagem buffs and enemy nerfs.

Hopefully with the one year anniversary they'll add new difficulties so the sweats can continue to gamesturbate themselves.

But that does not make sense - why not lower the difficulty, if one is struggling? Why nerf the game for everyone else?

There is nothing sweaty about this game. It's just boring not losing ever.

Same feeling here, only the bots are putting any real pressure during a fight.

I felt the bugs during the last MO were more aggro, with things like the impaler being far more accurate than I remember. I was enjoying that. I hoping to see instead of more difficulties, just more challenge in the existing diffs. I don't want matchmaking split 15-20 ways.

I think its mostly the damage nerf for enemys. In the beginning if you were not aware of a gun turret in the distance it one shotted you. Now i feel like i can tank 5 shots from a tank on bot side even with light armor. I wouldnt say its bad, people like it more this way it seems. But like many here already said, you cant really loose anymore.

The buffs to the weapons dont matter imo, even before the buffs you could take effective weapons and be good, but enemys were way more dangerous then now

I only play with friends though, never with randoms. I guess the game is balanced assuming zero teamwork, which is a shame. There should definitely be harder game modes for premade groups.

Most of my lvl10 bot missions are 5 gunships spawning on me, having pebbles for cover and being ragdolled 4-5 times in a row before i can get up.

Do we beat the missions? Sure. But IMO it's definitely not "easy", surely a nightmare for a very casual player

Seems a large vocal group or majority of player base gets upset if you tell them to play at a lower difficulty. They rather have the difficulty curved down to the lowest common denominator and tell guys like OP to play with a blindfold if you want a challenge.
i exaggerated lowest common denominator, but apparently D10 is still insanely difficult for the average diver.

Escalation of Freedom happened. The game was in a state of reasonable difficulty, and then they did an entire release themed around making all the most hated parts of the game even harder, the backlash was tremendous. The devs are too out of touch with the player base to have a precise understanding of what they needed to correct, so instead they overcorrected and basically nerfed the difficulty of the whole game.

On the up side, weapon balance is greatly improved, but that makes the game even easier, and they have not adjusted for it.

To be fair, a lot of the buffs to some strategems were totally justified. Orbital Gatling Barrage was completely useless way back because it didn’t last long enough or do enough given the cooldown. After all the buffs and changes to strategems, they really felt good. No longer were there strategems I’d never think to use again. They all have some place now. I think we just need more unique enemies for higher difficulty play, kinda like the armored missile scout striders. Tanks should get something like ERA that eats the first round to the front armor, as well as upgrades detection packages that let them see and fire at divers from further away. Stuff like that. That way the lower difficulties play as they do now, but players looking for challenge can have harder versions to fight. Could even adjust those unit’s armor values back to the old ones where Hulks weren’t vulnerable to your sidearm.

what you suggest with harder versions is exactly what they did before, they used to 1 shot EAT chargers, then they created behemoth chargers that required 2 shots...but to keep it fair for the lower difficulty player, they only put more behemoth in the higher difficulties. you would think that's a fair take but people still demanded behemoths were unfair and so the devs had to overcorrect. so the playerbase will repeat history at this rate.

but a lot of good came with buffs though, i remember being excited for some buffs but then they kept goin and i was like woah woah pump the brakes man.
