Helldivers movie
Are you excited for it coming out? Will you go to the cinema to see it? Does Sony deserve your custom, or do you think people will boycott it over the blocked regions where people can't play the game which spawned the movie? Interesting to see if they just do bugs, and make it basically a new Starship Troopers, or somehow manage to get a ST/Terminator/War of The Worlds all in one film if they use all 3 factions. Also if it'll be fully animated or live action with CGI.

I imagine like with Starship Troopers there will be arguments between the 'woke/antiwoke' camps deciding whether the political satire present in Helldivers is anti/pro statism/fascism/authoritarian etc and getting all mad about it before it even releases. Sony will have to tread carefully there since people are very politically polarised these days.

I'd imagine that if they go for all 3 factions, the plot will follow 3 separate Helldiver squads rather than one squad deployed to fight each faction. We may even see Super Earth and what life is like there compared to the frontier.

Maybe we'll even see the legendary John Helldiver...

Given the lore of the game it seems very hard to make a good movie adaption out of it - it's possible to make a movie, but then we mostly end up with another "Halo" ♥♥♥♥-show.

An anthology movie could work though, something like "Love Death Robots" within the Helldiver universe - no need for established characters and needing to keep them alive outside of their stories.

Then there is the obvious question about social political themes being included, and that's where it will be up to Sony - Not including any lecturing / forced discussion would of course be preferable but they also hyped stuff like Concord or this new "Prophet of something" sci-fi game from Naughty Dog

Slop as only ****wood can make. I'd rather watch Turkish Star Wars than see another production riddled with our politics.

The theme as it is portrayed in game is muddy enough, so I don't trust them to convey it to big screen at all. Fluke could exist. I personally think they should F big budget and F A list actors and just get Uwe Boll to do it. He has a track record of incredibly bad, yet cult worshipped videogame to movie adaptations, and his key theme is absurd, violent, offensive humour. If there's a fluke, I think it's with him. It would be even more in key with the overall theme of Helldivers considering it's rumoured that he finances his films with Nazi gold xD
