I think using the heavy and chaff unit sound remasters are just a straight up pre-req to play at this point.
In the guide I linked you what I am using with an example screenshot...
It is also absolutely safe to use.

It remixes all existing enemy sounds and makes them sound better and clearer. There's video examples on that page.
