When are we getting a fix for the mic issues?
For the longest time I never payed attention to my mic's input settings on windows, and just always wondered "Why do I have varying sensitivities I need to use so Discord keeps picking me up?", well, Helldivers is why, turns out I have the same issue my friend's been telling me about for a while.
Helldivers keeps lowering our mics, and it's been reported a few times before, you go above a certain threshold and it internally lowers your mic input on windows settings, affecting literally everywhere, explains why my mic is always quieter in medal clips of Helldivers and nowhere else, and why this only started happening to me the last week or so, because I recently disabled automatic gain control in Discord which was trying to ammend this.

So, like, why tf does it do this? It shouldn't do it, and shouldn't be able to, is the mic input that poorly coded or did Arrowhead just not let on how their mic input works? I've tried the crappy bandaid fixes and they don't work, turning off automatic gain control in steam settings didn't work, turning off "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" didn't work.
The worst part is it doesn't even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work like an actual automatic gain control, it does one side, lowering volume when you get loud, but it doesn't ever go back up, it just stays at the lowest you had it go to. I can see it happening by forcibly holding the slider at 100 while speaking with the game open and it keeps jolting to 96 or 83 and such before going straight back up to 100 from my control.

Okay after working on it for a while, as if by pure chance, I immediately sorted the issue on my side (and presumably my friend's) minutes after posting this, dumb luck. So I had only my mic enabled on input devices, I enabled another one called "stereo mix" and after messing around, it seems like you need to make it so your mic is NOT your "default communications device". To clarify, I'm being very specific, NOT "default communications device", but keep it as your "default device", those are separate things. Doing so fixed it for both of us (as far as we know), presumably it doesn't have to be your stereo mix you set this to, just anything that isn't your mic.

That's a lot of yap about non-issues.

Glad to see you got it figured out.

It'll be 'fixed' when Microsoft gets smart with their audio devices, so probably never.

Damn, not even talking about a bug and then providing a bandaid fix can go 1 comment without the typical Helldivers steam forum response, you got problems man, be a bit nicer
This was almost certainly your own fault, and had absolutely nothing to do with HD2.

For a supposed math guy, you are incredibly tech-illiterate.

Since it was fixed by "dumb luck" I can almost guarantee you, it's an issue with your headset, or the audio jack you plug it into.

Also, no, the default communications device denotes the default mic, which can also just be "default device" if the mic is attached to the headset.

I wish I could call you names without getting banned, because you honestly deserve it.

Nice bait

There is no bait, you just don't understand how your own PC works. You basically admit it yourself. You're tech-illiterate. Which is weird for someone who's apparently into math.

Cool
Thank you, while this workaround isn't ideal, it does solve the issue. Thank you!
