Big Announcements for a Short Event
I don't mean to be a hater, especially since I will admit that I pretty much dropped away from this game back in the good ol "stop nerfing fun" and "screw PS Account mandate," but are all major or hyped up events really this short?

I get the idea behind this game being a live service sort of deal, where the game progresses based on player achievements or failures. However, when I saw the announcement for this INVASION, I was hyped and saw it in myself to dive back into this game... and for the most part, it was fun. I mean yes, I encountered bugs or issues (stuck under rubble, strategem wouldn't work if inputted too quickly, and those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ team killing eagles towards the end of the invasion), but I still had fun. I think my main problem is that, like many other divers out there, I have responsibilities that I cannot just drop for a game event. And since this was an epic "INVASION, DEFEND SUPER EARTH" update, I thought that it would at least last over one weekend. But here I am on a friday afternoon hearing that it is already over.

And look, I get it that those of you who are pretty much MO fighters may have felt burnout, but I thought that this invasion of Super Earth and it's cities would have been a longer or more drawn out battle. Having cities rise or fall over multiple days to a weak instead of just being wiped out within a weekday or two. It is unfortunate since now we essentially lost content I was hoping to enjoy for a second weekend.

Again, I don't mean to hate on this game, and I am not going to leave a negative review over something like this because it undermines the other achievements of this game (and I get people may say "what other good things" but hey, we all have our own opinions), but I just wish Arrowhead would at least take Weekend divers more into consideration. It just sucks having MO's starting and ending on weekdays.

The event went on for almost 2 weeks so I'm not sure what you're talking about. there was plenty of time to do a couple matches and get the idea of it

A lot of these events that you hear about the news or other stuff they're only in the game for like a week or two and then they're over. That's just how the game works and how these live service games operate

Like when we put up the bug spray towers to stop the bugs forever. Then when we had to deactivate them. Or when we had to go to the super colony meridia. They're just all fun events that happen for like a week or two and then they're over

You and others like you make the Helldivers community look petty and weak. :/

Completely flaccid

It was really a bit longer than that. The event began on 5/13 with the assaults on the planets between SE and Meridia, as all that was ultimately connected. I do agree it could've stood to go through this weekend also though.

We were never anywhere close to defeat lmao

Most MOs are lore wrapping paper to the release of new content. All the content of the invasion will continue to exist after the event, you just won’t roleplay as the MO defending Super Earth.

There’s bound to be more down the pipeline, so for next time just get better at checking updates. This event started two weeks back, plenty of time to have heard about and tried it. Don’t let your FOMO ruin what’s otherwise just a chapter in a longer story.
Buddy you had like two weeks to get in on this

As somebody who works 12 hour shifts myself and still had time to play on my free time,
you just missed it.

It's not the development team's fault.

No I think there is a misunderstanding. I wasn’t around when the illuminate were introduced and only had my interest peaked when they invaded Super Earth, which was announced 10 days ago. So I was able to partake for some of it, and I did have fun for the little bit I did play, but I was just disappointed that this big ol invasion event didn’t even make it to a second weekend.

From other people’s comments though, I guess that isn’t surprising as I now know this is the norm for events and their duration, which is unfortunate.
I am actually glad it's finally over, the Super Arse biome is buggy and just half arsed in general. Now that it's over we are going to get more divers back on the bot front so it will be easier to fill lobbies, it's a win win.

No I think there is a misunderstanding. I was able to participate in the event last weekend, but I was just disappointed because I thought this was a big event and yet it ended before this weekend (the second weekend since its first announcement 10 days ago).

But like I admitted, I wasn’t an active diver until recently and so I did not know that similar events are the same in being generally short term. So it is my mistake for thinking it would have been longer, but I still wish something of this scale, which Arrowhead hyped up in the announcement trailer, would have at least lasted till after this weekend (e.g. lasted for two weeks / two weekends, and not ending after 10 days just before the second weekend)

As an iconic moment of the invasion of Super Earth,
it is kind of underwhelming that it turned out to be a series of MOs over the course of about 2 weeks, instead of a significant campaign.
Though it was getting a bit stale as a straight-forward defense for x amount of time.
And the Super Earth map definitely needs to go back into the workshop before we see that happen again - bugged empty vaults, a small rare cluster of POIs and not even as numerous as basic city POIs, the building height really jacked up stratagem usage, enemies and Helldivers alike clipping through walls and floors, etc.
And those stupid sewers!!!
Who thought it was a good idea to just have some discreet friggin sewers that you drop in while running from hordes of Voteless!?

The invasion also could have been a great moment to introduce the Illuminate Council members,
really hype things up and stretch out some reveals, throw in the APCs and motorbikes from Helldivers 1,
have a good drawn out tug-of-war over cities and Helldivers having to retake Illuminate controlled cities.
It did feel a bit more brief than it could have been but there wasn't much going on beyond,
"Keep defending".

But maybe now we should just invite the Automatons over to invade Super Earth next, then the bugs, let everyone drop in so we can fight with our SEAF buddies again!
