Can we talk about the dead president story?

Supposedly, the president of SE died "heroically defending his bunker with a pistol", and presidential power is currently exercised by the Ministry of Defense.

Sound similar? Yes.
Because Hitler killed himself with a pistol in his bunker in 1945. The way the power vacuum is immediately filled by the military also matches the plans in Operation Valkyrie (one of the many assassination attempts against Hitler).
Additionally, Rommel was offered suicide in exchange of publicly claiming he's not related with Valkyrie, burial as a national hero and immunity of his family. This also matches how the death of President of SE is being decorated.

I feel like this implies that the whole "President KIA" story is actually a coup done by Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Truth...

If you want to talk about the dis-similarity between SE and Nazi Germany, there would be plenty. For example, Germans couldn't vote, not even a fake one.

So the main point here is this incident (president's death) and its similarity to Operation Valkerie and Mr. H's death, as well as what that implies (that perhaps president didn't really die "in heroic defense").

Hell we didn't even know the president exist before this. I have always thought he's like Big Brother in 1984, where it's very likely that such a supreme leader is nothing but a fictional character coined by the regime.

maybe he is fictional. maybe the conspiracy is not that he was killed by his guards or killed himself but that the entire story was fabricated as a rallying cry for the SEAF. revenge is a hell of a motivator after all.

The strange thing is that the data leak videos show a clip and it mentions the president survived...so...it almost seems like they sent that out as an accident? Maybe we'll see a plot point with the suspension of voting during war time...but it seems unlikely since Super Earth is always at war.

or maybe they saw that their stuff leaked so they are rewriting the story to seem less predictable.

The president in Mar Attacks! also died in his bunker. The president in Independence Day: Resurgence was captured in a bunker, but really she should have died there because she was unceremoniously stepped on later.

Well how many of them died in relation to a pistol, and with a Valkyrie-like mechanism? none.
