Once unlocked from Warbond, the One True Flag Strat should be given freely every mission
its a bit of a meme weapon for sure, i feel like its much slower then the stun lance with its ergonomics, so i see no problem with letting it be given freely to players who unlock it on the top bar stratagems

Just make it do something else. Let it give you an AoE buff while saluting with it, let planting the flag do something, make it play the SE national anthem while using it for all I care, just make it something that isn't "the stun lance but objectively worse"
That makes sense, change it to a "gold" stratagem, like reinforce or supplies, that is available every game, unlike those it would still need to be unlocked but once unlocked it would just be available every mission.

jon i agree, it should have a buff ability to it, some sort of rallying cry.

but this isnt a world of magic and for that to make sense it will have to follow a scientific methodology. perhaps it can trigger a chemical response hardwired into helldivers that allow them to regain stamina faster (adrenaline)

i would like it tp be able to heal but that would be harder to explain... then again we do have magic stims
Great idea, we need a list of "always on" unlockable stratagems, that can be toggled

that being said... would it be too broken to have the EAT or the MG42 (or whatever its called) as an always on Stratagem?

in HD1 they had some truly difficult difficulties, so maybe everyone having access to a lead hose or AT wouldnt be a bad idea

When you have missions that have raising a flag, the drone plays the music, but man, I would use the flag all the time if it played a little song when wielded.

Maybe make it be immensely bitcrushed and quiet too, just to be funny.

attach a comically large boombox on it that constantly plays the drone version bitcrushed enough where it sounds like a cassette tape and I ain't using no other weapon

How about SEAF follows the helldiver carrying the flag. Then you could have a mobile squad follow you around lol.

You can already have them follow you

Plus would you really want too? I just did that Ingame and I’m still crying after having to leave em behind

Yeah, that's too much. Basically removes a lot of need to think about your loadout, especially at lower difficulties where you aren't constantly being rushed by the entire world.

The flag is just not even remotely worth a slot. It either needs a very minor addition (music playing would be funny) and being a "free" 5th strat when unlocked just for pure meme usage, or some team-oriented buffs to be worth a real strat slot. Personally I'd like to see it have several small AOE buffs that make it broadly applicable, but with the caveat of a long cooldown on the strat, so you basically have to carry it between points unless you're on static defense.

I like it for the flair, the moral support and of course marching and waving. Much like the constitution, it's never going to be an optimal stratagem to take... but damn it's fun.

I do wish it would provide something else though. As someone suggested, having it as a toggleable free stratagem would be cool. Or giving the flagbearer a bit of a buff in terms of resistances. Maybe it could trigger a stim-like effect for other helldivers when a flagbearer dies?

If you want to keep it grounded, just a minor reduction of flinch when hit would be reasonable. See it as Helldivers redoubling their efforts in sight of the colors :)

Less knockback would actually greatly help this melee weapon. So often I've hit an enemy once and they stagger so far back that my second attack misses...

If we go all in on that mentality, we could limit the flag to one calldown per mission, but give it some really good aoe buffs. That would also put more importance on actually carrying the flag through the mission. Bonus points for bringing the flag back with you on the pelican, of course.
