Primary Weapons for Illuminate
Any Primary weapon suggestions against Illuminate. Everything I try out ends up having a major downside. I used to use sickle against bots, But against Illuminate it's not great Imo, the charge heats up too fast for a group of voteless, and the AP on it isn't enough for multiple overseers, not to mention the new enemies. The plasma gun (forgot what its called) that's either single-auto is what I run, but its downside is a lack of ammo which forces me to run supply pack for myself, which I don't like doing. So what's some good suggestions against Illuminate for Primary?

For Illuminate, you need to cover the following needs:
- You need a mob-clearing weapon
- You need a medium penetration weapon
- You need an "OH ♥♥♥♥!" weapon
- You need something to kill the parked warp ships

Some of these can be covered by the same weapon. MG-43 can do mob clear and medium pen, for example. Grenade launcher or Crossbow can do mob-clear and warp ship demolition (once the shield is down).

The mob-clearing weapon is to get/keep voteless off you. They will spawn often and in large numbers, and the longer you take to deal with them or get away from them, the longer the heavier units have to take hard-hitting shots at you.

The medium penetration weapon is for dealing with overseers and harvesters. It needs to be a weapon you are good at handling, because you will be aiming at mobile targets.

The oh-♥♥♥♥ weapon is for when you get swamped, or when there is one unit that refuses to die and it absolutely needs to, RIGHT NOW. Could be a hard-hitting AT weapon, or a really strong crowd-clear option, or something to deal specifically with the new Voteless-brutes.

I'm considering something like this. I accidentally brought my bot weapon the Liberator AP or whatever it's called and ended up liking it against Illuminate. So that might be it, either that or the Reprimand (haven't unlocked Reprimand yet) Idk what I'm gonna bring for my secondary, my grenades are impact, my stratagems are gonna be Orb Laser, Recoiless Rifle, Turret of any variant, Eagle Airstrike. Might try to tailor it some more depending on how it works. But from my view, My liberator can take down voteless and overseers, grenades for ships and voteless, the recoilless rifle can work against mutants and harvesters, Airstrike can do good against anything, but mainly swarms and parked ships, and Orb Laser is emergency kill everything around me. Turret can provide backup swarm protection, Or harvester/mutant destruction.
Plasma Purifier is very good against the entire Illuminate roster. Full charge will damage everything except harvesters heavy armor points and the new bombers and whipe out large chunks of the voteless hoard.

You want to constantly spam the full charge shots.

Also Double Edge scythe + supply pack + vit booster + fire resist armor. A bit of investment but you basically have a bottomless HMG as long as you constantly stim yourself every time your health hits the 1/4 or so mark and you have omni-pen when you're on fire.

This also teaches you some very good fire discipline. Pun maybe intended? I guess??

I use
Eruptor for hulks, overseers, strafing ships and ship camps
Talon for votelesses and drones
Laser Cannon for Harvesters
Impact grenade when there's too many votelesses in one place
500kg, Gatling Sentry and Guard Dog or Shield Generator

I love purifier, it's my main weapon most of the time, but it can be pretty awful against the votless.
Once you get surounded by these guys you are cooked and can't use your charged shot without exploding yourself.

Take the Sicle, the HEAVY sicle and take the fire resist armour and the life booster for the hordes and maybe the meatbags.
Take the wasp for every form of overseer and the illuminate jet, it is stupidly effective against it. Take a good base clearing stratagem + orbital railcannon. Personally I use 500Kg + Railcannon OR 380 strikes. As for the meatbags, aim at the faces. if you kill 6 it keels over. Alternatively use the Wasp. 4 shots usually.
I also take the Gattling gun, for mob clearing.

You know you can just spam the tap-fire right? This hurts them without killing yourself.

You waste some ammo, but it won't do enough splash damage to kill you.

Also gas nades, gas every swarm. All the gas. Gas and go on the mf's. Let them take care of themselves.

thats why you bring the hover pack

i like using purifier/crossbow with the pack really good if i need to reload and/or clear me feet
Only primary worth taking is the deadeye, one taps voteless anywhere on the body and one taps overseers to the head
I found the DCS interesting as a way to nail harvester legs but your milage may vary
I bring Sickle + Laser Cannon + Talon, plus gas stuff. Sickle handles most things fine with trigger discipline and solves the major issue of using up all of your ammo against the spongy squids. LC's beam has plenty of duration to blast down everything else pretty easily, including the squid aircraft.

All you need is the incendiary breaker + commando. With these (alone), you can kill all units and clean up ships like they are made of butter.
Don't sleep on the Adjudicator. As long as you can handle the recoil by going crouch or prone, it can deal with the Voteless and Overseers very well.

Otherwise, Sickle and DE Sickle are my go to.
The new breaker spray and pray, you can switch the spread pattern to be way better.
