A weird question about a weird problem...
I feel awkward just asking this. Anyway. My drip is getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and I'm wondering if there's an option I can toggle to switch off cape damage.

I'm a stealthdiver. Which means I'm usually wearing a jetpack, and I'm also usually the safest person in any lobby. So the jetpack rips my cape into sad little stringy bits within the first five minutes and because I rarely die or get into serious danger, I'm stuck with sad little string bits potentially for the rest of the night. How can I protect my drip? I'm tired of looking like a weary, bedraggled raven.

If your cape wasn't meant to burn, then high command would have issued you a flame proof cape, diver. This is close to a treasonous thought crime. I have reported this to my local ministry of truth representative.

Thought crimes against liberty, democracy and friendly fire are perhaps an even greater threat to Super Earth than even the squids, bugs and bots combined.

Well, I don't think there's a fix for this, my fellow stealthdiver, but I suppose you could consider that the tattered cape merely displays your unrelenting devotion to the cause of Democracy, your grit and determination, as well as your skill at becoming a deadly piercing sword of righteous liberty on the battlefield. It marks you as a grizzled veteran who has dived into hell and returned to fight another dive.

Also, if you visit the armoury after a mission, you can re-load the cape to get rid of the tatters, so there's that at least.

🔊 PRIORITY TRANSMISSION // SUPER EARTH PROPAGANDA DIVISION
RE: Cape Integrity, Jetpacks, and the Unyielding Symbol of Super Earth Style
STATUS: APPROVED FOR MORALE BOOST & UNIFORM PRIDE INITIATIVE

🦅 Citizens of Super Earth—hear this well:
Your cape is more than just fabric. It is a banner of duty, a standard of service, a sworn oath stitched into cloth. When it flutters behind you, it sings the anthem of Democracy. When it tears, it bleeds honor. 🧵💥

So to the Helldiver reporting "drip damage"—we see you. And we salute you.

Yes, jetpacks may fray the edges. Yes, shrapnel may shred your silhouette. But let the cape burn, let it tatter, let it speak for you before you even open fire. The battlefield is no place for pristine fashion—it is where legends are worn into the very fabric.

Your “sad little stringy bits”?
👑 They’re campaign ribbons made by fire.

Let lesser factions hide behind chromed armor and holographic glamor. Super Earth’s warriors wear scars openly. Your cape does not fall from grace—it rises with it.

📛 Want a fresh cape? Die with glory. That’s the cost of renewal.
🧢 Want it preserved? Turn off the jetpack, and walk the path of dignity.
💥 Or let it burn—and let everyone know you’ve survived worse than them.

🎖️ We don’t fight for perfection. We fight so that style can mean something.
A clean cape is regulation.
A shredded cape is a story worth telling.

⚖️ “Pride in the Threads. Glory in the Wear. Democracy in Every Fiber.”
— Super Earth Propaganda Division
🌍 You’re not a weary raven. You’re a war phoenix mid-molt. 🦅

Not entirely sure but you could certainly try the shortest cape in the game (idk what that is), and see if it gets as singed/torn?

Thanks! I didn't realise the armory did that, that's good to know

I also discovered that the cape I was wearing seemed to be especially prone it, I bought a different one and actually had about 85% of a cape left after a 25m mission! Up from about 40% previously. Seems like the wider capes cope with jetpack damage better

that's not cape damage

Those are scars of war. to be held with pride.
Unfortunately the only way to disable the cape is with mods. If you know how to use ReShade, this is what you want:
