What it needs is to revamp the timer system to something else, preferably a remote detonator.
There is absolutely no circumstance where a one minute timer on a grenade is useful. Even the 15 second timer is absurd, when would we ever use that?
It's essentially a 5 second timer grenade with the option to break your grenade into being useless. It's actually kind of crazy.
Oh, and for those who haven't figured out how to adjust the timer yet: hit 4 and then hold down R. Yes, it's dumb.
After using it some, I find it fits within the stable of grenades like frags and high-ex, which I can appreciate some more variety in. And the timer is of questionable utility, though neat to have options if nothing else.
it doesn't make sense.
The idea being to give it strong bunker-busting utility at the cost of being awkward to use in the middle of combat compared to other, more conventional grenades.
As much as people associate tnt with destruction, there are much more high-yield explosive compounds these days used for artillery shells and demolition.
Remember, YOU, the whiny minority demanded power creep and YOU got it lol thermite and impacts are the only ones worth using now because of how buffed they became...if 2 of the dozen options 1 shot everything with zero downsides why take any other grenade slot besides memeing? Why even add more grenades when you have 2 that obliterate everything in the game? Besides memeing of course.
If it had utility in the form of remote or proximity detonation it would have a use vs the alternatives in the slot.
HE grenade is a more advanced and targeted explosion, hence it's higher penetration and smaller area of effect. To be honest, the HE grenade doesn't really have a role since Thermite exists. At least TNT does something unique with an actual use case.
Gas grenades are still arguably better for the same role TNT fills, but TNT does it's job right up front not over time. For bugs I think TNT might be the new best in slot, although thermite and gas grenades will always be a strong pick.
You're like half a year out of date on what grenades are worth using or not.
