bro they're so scummy lately it's insane
Literally standard practice. If an account is innactive, in any live-service, for extended periods of time, they are put "on freeze" (and sometimes terminated for the actual scummy ones), as to not waste server ressources.
They have no way of telling apart active and innactive accounts otherwise, and yes, hundreds of thousands of innactive accounts being accounted for all the time will have effects on the game's perfomance.
Computers aren't magic, sometimes you have to cut dead weight loose.
Every account is active as far as I'm concerned
And now it's both, which is really sad
Aight genius. this game is still a live-service. And yes people paid for it, which is in itself a better deal than most, as it normally requires subscription (you know, like WoW, as to tell innactive players apart).
So what you are asking is for a company to sustain, for free, accounts that may or may not contribute, because of a one-time payment on a continued experience.
Like, I agree with you that generally, the market's tendency are ♥♥♥♥ and anti-consummers, but you gotta face the music at some point. It's not feasable to maintain that many accounts free of charge when they are not being used.
Once more, if it was following all of the scummy market practice, you'd be paying a subscription, and as long as you pay, you stay active. Here it's just log in from time to time to let us know you are still alive. And the little that is lost is an armor and an smg.
It might suck for those that wanted it, but it's not like this was a discreet drop either. You can't expect the moon over 40€.
I'll add that it's also not about cost at some point, but just hardware. Millions of people on an "on" state all the time at once is a gargantuan investement, (like the literal INTERNET), so even assuming that money wasn't an issue, I doubt the physical capacity to make it happen.
Yes, it's 40€ on a one time payment. Standard market practice is 30€/month. Reality's a ♥♥♥♥♥, I know
worse examples existing doesn't make this one good or acceptable
But in a paid game with average content drops being 4-5 months apart? 3-month inactivity window is just scummy no matter what you say
