Moving to an unsupported region after having the game?
So, in general, I do know that Steam will restrict my game for a certain amount of time before enabling it again. This I knew from years past. However, some friends were telling me that, in Helldivers 2's case specifically, if I play from an account on any of the unsupported regions, my account will be banned on Sony's end, not Steam's, so even if after moving to an unsupported region my game is locked and then unlocked, I would still get barred from playing the game.

Does anybody know if this is true? Are people playing from unsupported regions getting banned for playing the game, even if they had the game before, or moved countries after the fact? Thanks!

from what i know, if you own the game, the region lock wont apply, if only come to buying new games

but when it comes to moving to a new place, i have no idea how it will work, but im guessing aslong as you own it before you move you will be able to play

edit: after looking around it looks like evrything will be fine

Thank you for your reply. Like I said in the original post, I know I would get access to the game 3 months later at latest on Steam's end, however, I was told that even if I could launch the game on Steam, it'd be on the Sony side (so, in-game) that I would get banned.

Just for clarity, that is the exact information that I had already known for a couple of years. I'm specifically talking about Helldivers 2, and if you would get banned in game for playing from an unsupported region.

Helldivers does not have a PSN account requirement, unlike most other Sony games, so going by other games won't necessarily apply.

Anything you hear from this thread won't be definitive, though, I'd contact Sony directly and ask.

You're probably right, I was hoping someone who was gone through that process maybe would see this post and confirm they were fine or they were banned in-game. But Sony support could also be a good idea

This is correct as far as I'm aware, but also the reason I've blocked Playstation as a publisher/developer on my steam page now. Bad business practises shouldn't be rewarded.

Alright, thank you very much for answering! And yeah, I don't plan on purchasing any more PSN games in the future anyway. Like Axis said, bad business practices shouldn't be rewarded. But since Helldivers 2 was gifted to me, I wanted to know this before moving my account, in case anything were to happen

so Sony quite literally just said "you can't buy our ♥♥♥♥ because we say so"

Yep. Every sony game now has this policy of not allowing purchases in regions that don't have PSN, including things like Ghosts of Tushima(sp?) etc.
