A weapon that isn't the purifier or the crossbow really isn't the best at... anything. I'd also recommend gas nades over incendiaries, though those do need unlocking.

Crossbow is a bit niche for squids sure, but Purifier is literally a top three pick for every front rn

A lot of primaries really shine against squids, the Scythe being one of them. Even things you wouldn't expect like the Breaker Spray n Pray, it can W key anything that's not a Harvester. And gas nades are the meta nade for sure, tho I prefer the Incendiary Impacts, fire kills em very quickly and the impact explosion can take out bases so you're not beholden to the GP
