Quick tips for driving (on pc)

After many fails trying to drive and getting banned from driving in our group I went ahead and practiced a bit and I think I now have some useful tips if you also had a hard time controlling the not-warthog. (I have since been unbanned)

1) Dont constantly hold down accelerate on rough terrain or when about to turn. In Halo you can for the most part just hold W and get where your going without much problem, in helldivers I found that its usually better to press w briefly then let go to avoid hitting too high a speed. The terrain on most maps is rough enough that holding W nonstop usually leads to rolling, launching, or crashing (often flinging your gunner into a boulder). I hold W for more then a second or two only on reasonably flat terrain and when going up hills

2) Press space on the keyboard for the handbrake, shift on the keyboard to shift gears, x to toggle headlight mode, and f to honk the horn.

3) Press c to swap seats with a neighboring seat.

4) Wearing a shield gen backpack can help protect you as the driver versus automaton cannons and bugs/voteless melee attacking through the window, letting you wait a tad longer while your squad gets in the vehicle.

5) Ramming is inconsistent so dont go crazy for it like you would in Halo. Occasionally it will kill a little guy for you, most of the time they just clip through unharmed.

Shift and Ctrl switches gears.

1st gear for hilly/uneven terrain, 2nd for flat sections where you can go reasonably fast.

F to honk. X for high beams at night.

Once you get used to the right gear for the right terrain (and which rocks to avoid hitting) it's reliable enough and fun to transport a team around in.

If you're on the HMG turret and you hit enter to type the game may switch you to your primary weapon even though you are still in the turret. So, be careful if you have like a crossbow or you could blow your friends up when you try and shoot. >_>

Next to a tips and trick for passengers lol. To many people killing each other on the inside. Like do not shoot to the opposite side or dont flame/shoot explosives toward the direction the FRV is moving.

My tip is to park the FRV well away from any player who isn't you, they often end up baiting overseer nades into it and popping your wheels

Main issue I run into with the FRV is my teammates keep teamkilling each other by accident when trying to shoot

Especially the Gunner keeps accidentally shooting the passengers who want to fire off a few rounds of their own lol
