Illuminate walkers and ships - best counter?
since my go-to, the 500kg, doesnt work on these things, whats the next best option? I thought breaking the ship shield and throwing grenades in the door would blow them up but this only works about 30% of the time, idk if its bugged and doesnt work.

Recoiless rifle works on everything even the reinforcement ships if you shoot their bottom in the middle, tripods aim for the leg joint and use something else to disable its shield or just hit the bottom front triangle it will lose its ability to shield itself.

Precision strike one shots outpost ships

Orbital lasers can kill everything, I only use them when the situation is dire (IE they drop like six tripods on you)

AT eagle can kill tripod if the shield is down.

You can set tripods on fire from underneath with a flamethrower, alternatively you can just shoot the leg join with any primary, it might take longer than the above options but its good if you don't have any of the above mentioned.

In general, eagles are not a good option against the Illuminate.

Orbital Laser- This is the best. It'll destroy all outposts quickly as well as any other units in the area without fail. Use wisely as you have a limited amount.

Patriot Suit - Requires better positioning & is less reliable. Use the Gatling gun to break the shield then shoot one rocket into the door. I found the one downside to this is that sometimes one or both weapons get destroyed or the suit itself gets destroyed. Since you only get two, you have to use it wisely. But I've completed entire difficulty 8/9/10 missions with one mech. Autocannon mech works too, but I find the ammo doesn't last as long in that one.

The Laser Cannon + Impact Grenades In The Door - Takes a bit longer and is hard if you get swarmed, but it's reliable & works every time.

120mm/380mm/Napalm - Can kill multiple outposts and enemies if you're lucky. Less reliable, but it's unlimited so you can keep using it.

I beg to differ. The gunrun works great for clearing streets, and is also quite handy for disabling shields.

Combine that with a recoilless rifle and you should not have much trouble.


ps.: Gras strike can also oneshot the ships if you throw it under them.

Recoil-less Riffle - One shot to the connecting parts of the walker between legs and body. One shot to all ships in the glowing ring on bottom at any point including during unit drop and during incoming form orbit. With a buddy reloading and good aim you can kill them faster than they can come in from orbit.

bro u can literally use a scythe to break the sheild and toss a gas grenade in the open door, just make sure the grenade actually stays in the door when it goes off. i noticed that the open doorway is only about 15 feet deep then it hits a wall so the grenades tend to bounce back out if thrown to close from the door. just toss it so it finishes its arch as soon as it enters the doorway

This is all hard mode. The ships on the ground are no dif than bug holes just with a shield.

Mag dump from almost any auto = shield strip.

Explosive of almost any type = boom to hole.

Hand Grenade pistol, any grenade that explodes, Auto Cannon, etc. All of it will work consistently.

One person with a good ranged setup can walk around the perimeter of an Illuminate base and kill off all the spawn points without even getting near it.

AC works wonders against tripods: flak for the shield, AP for the joints

Nah. Orbital laser instantly destroys them basically on contact. Nothing removes them as quickly or easily.

machine gun or heavy machine gun for walker ( and mostly everything )
for ship ( on the ground ) you can either toss a grenade in the door after destroying the shield or you can toss an orbital lazer that will destroy the whole outpost ( up to 3-4 ship close by )

if you mean the flying ship then the anti tank emplacement and the mortar are killing them pretty fast

You don't, they can even be killed easily enough with a machine gun (the medium pen one) support strategem. Just aim for the connecting bits on their legs to the main body.
