The illuminates are simply not fun to fight, at all.
I can't believe people thought for one second, that getting swarmed by zombies while getting shot at would be fun. Here's how the typical death to the illuminate goes:
1. Run away.
2. Run into a zombie while shooting at the zombies behind you.
3. Get knocked down.
4. Die to an elevated overseer.
5. Drop in.
6. Die to a harvester laser out of nowhere.
7. Drop in.
8. Get shot to death.
and so on...
Not to mention everything feels like an airsoft gun.
Takes an ENTIRE smg (the new one) mag, with at least 50% headshots, to take out an overseer.
While being shot at.
And swarmed with zombies.
Yeah, stratagems work fine against overseers and zombies, but they're limited.
And overseers are everywhere.
Oh yeah, they also don't do anything to harvesters.
Now onto support weapons.
Most of them work fine... against zombies.
Harvester shields regen with most explosive slow reload weapons.
Stuff like the flamethrower and laser cannon barely scratch them.
Backpack shields get shredded in seconds. Guard dogs accidentally shoot you.

Also, blitzer and laser cannon got shadow nerfed. Thanks AH.
The free armor and guns is fun at least.

Harvesters fall down if you sneeze at them.

sounds like you need some more stalwart in your life.

Dude you're in the process of adapting and learning to fight them. We're used to fighting bugs and bots which call for different approaches and strategies but squids have aspects of both with their own flavor too.

You will over time learn how to adjust to them, how to position yourself, how to take them down efficiently, what to prioritize and when to move as well as where to move against them. your time-to-kill and time to clear rates will also become tighter as you practice taking them down more efficiently. Over time you will adjust and be back to handling them without thinking, same as we did encountering the bugs and bots the first time.

I dont know about shadow whatsit or not, sounds made up because Blitzer and the laser cannon are still doing great against them as of today.

This is the practice period with their scout force. The tripod is just the basic heavy unit like the hulk or charger. We have yet to see the other heavy units, their flyers and elite enemy types.

Use the AR guard dog instead of the laser dog. The laser dog is an Automaton spy. The AR dog will faithfully mow down zombies and violently bite any overseer who makes the mistake of getting too close.

Also, Harvesters are easy to take down with the right approach. Rapid-fire weapons (this can be done just fine with your primary if need be) to take down the shields, then aim for the joint between the leg and body. Saw it off with a medium+ penetrating weapon like the MG43, HMG or laser cannon, or land one rocket there, and it's good night well before the shields have any hope of regenerating.

Overseers have 1) Medium armored heads, so of course the new SMG struggles with them, and 2) Ablative armor on the rest of their bodies, which only transfers 20% of the damage to the body, so if you spray all over them and just break armor pieces left and right but don't hit flesh, of course you'll take forever to kill one.

You could also consider the humble Eagle strafing run. Five charges, comes out very quickly when called, easy combination for the call-in, mows down zombies and overseers caught in the line and drops Harvester shields on the spot for a follow-up. Orbital gas is also very quick on the CD and completely ruins swarms of zombies, securing your back from them. Can also run gas/incendiary/incendiary impact grenades to utterly mop up the zombie hordes.

- Zombies got lowest health & damage of all entities in the game.
- harvester die to medium pen when shot at the joint point of the legs
- dont shoot at the main body or eye of the harvester it will take ages to take it out.
- overseer die easily through fire, as it bypasses the armor

Here's how my typical death to the illuminate goes:
1. Dive down to mow down zombies
2. Run into a zombie while shooting at the zombies behind you.
3. Pull out my spear and kill them all
4. Kill the elevated overseer that can't aim
5. See a harvester
6. Sneeze at the harvester to kill it
7. Get shot to death by my team
8. Drop in
and repeat these steps
I got banned in another thread for stating how to one shot enemies... so I guess figure it out on your own.

also are the blitzer and laser cannon shadow nerf in the room with us now?

Skill issue

My only real problem is illuminate soldiers just being bullet sponges, which just isn't fun to fight.

The Senator pistol can one-shot the Illuminate if you aim properly. The stalwart is good for the Voteless. And the Autocannon is good for everything else.

So far Super Helldive Illuminate missions feel too easy; don't die nearly as much as I do with the bots or bugs, and only lost one- maybe two missions. And one was because it was a Super Helldive civie evac with only two of us

Every city check point has MG43s at them lol
Use the MG43 to fix the skill issue :waytohell:

Spacial awareness is important, and will save you against squids. Along with appropriate gear.

I've even destroyed a Tripod with the Senator pistol- it took a few shots and a few dodges, but still possible to do

Hi there, I turn into a brick whenever I play this game. I bring flamethrower and giggle whenever they burn. Maybe a napalm barrage here and there. Subgun from the truth enforcers or shotguns seem to do a good job at booming stragglers, a good sidearm like the senator will help you take out those pesky flyers and groundseers. I've seen a dude with the laser cannon melt down their ships. Machine guns are good persuasive elements to your arsenal. Bring guard dogs, even the fart dog! If you want to go medieval on them take a riot shield and crossbow with you, two crossbow shots delete overseers. I've had a lot of fun railgunning striders in the eye or getting that sweet crossbow shot on em'.

Lots of ways to take these guys down.
