Did Activision Price the Killzone Collab?
All jokes aside, this is a precedent that is going to be very unhealthy for this game. The argument has been started. And I'm so sorry.

It's optional.

Yes, it is. But what will come of it will not be. What will come will be normalization.

If people can't farm enough SuperCredits, what are they going to think? "Oh man I'm 1000 short and who knows when it's going to be back in rotation? It's only $10usd..."

As a predatory business, such as casino games, gatcha games, a business you want people to buy micro transactions, what you bet on is that a lot of people have this feeling.

FOMO, or fear of missing out, is an abbreviation you could use to describe an issue that exists with the battle pass and rotation shop games. Tempting people for money with limited time items, even if it is a returning limited time, feels bad. Feels insulting. Feels immoral. Even if it's not gone forever, a timer will get into peoples heads. A time pressure can incite anxiety in individuals. A time strain causes stress. What's a better immediate stress relief than getting cool better armor? How about we really hit the nostalgia too.

To me as a lower middle class working man, I look at that and turn away. It only serves to remind me of Activision selling all these skins of all varying colors, FXs, adding a little booster in there too, all for the low low price of 2400 cod points, or $24usd (plus sales tax.) And there is so many of these bundles, over 20 dollars. 20 dollars can feed a family of four dinner for the night. They are asking us more than the price of dinner for skins that half of, like the player model, we don't see ourselves.

At least Helldivers 2 is third-person, but that doesn't make this any different. I don't want the gaming space to be me coming home from work just to see what the new $20 dollar brain rot bundle is. But also I don't want any $20 bundle becoming the normal. Why did we let EA and Activision do this to us? Ubisoft, almost every mobile game, etc., we need to heal.

They literally hired a guy with ideals to make money lmao.
This is my biggest worry. If the Killzone items were in a warbond I could safely leave them be until I had the supercredits from playing the game normally. Them being in the superstore is alarming at best because unlike the warbonds I don't recall anyone at Arrowhead saying that all superstore items will be permanently in the rotation. Even if they did say that at some point, what's stopping them from setting the collab items to reappear years later instead of in a few weeks or months?

I guess we just have to wait and see. If the Killzone items are really FOMO bait and/or if future collaboration items are priced similarly I won't be very happy. Not that my feelings or the feelings of the players matter anymore, they've been tread on so many times now and while things do get fixed eventually it's tiring constantly worrying about this game's future.

Yeah, technically I guess that's true, but I spend more than that on lunch most days.

And you aren't going to 'miss out' you'd just need some patience if you can't get it over the next five days. There are plenty of armors in the shop that I've put off for multiple cycles just because they weren't really worth it to me at the time. It's not a big deal.

Honestly, I can't imagine a scenario when I'd buy the crossover items. The armor is a little tempting, but I know I'd never use it instead of my +2 grenade armor or extra padding, and the AR is barely better than the default AR. I've got the Tenderizer, I'd never use the StA-52 as it's a straight downgrade.

2000 SC for what is on offer is not a good deal. If it were a 2000 SC warbond that periodically rotates in and out like other superstore content I feel like there would be fewer complaints.

As it stands, I would be embarrassed to be caught using the Killzone collab content because of its association with greedy mtx. Before this collab debacle, Arrowhead had kept the monetization relatively modest in Helldivers 2.

If I were Arrowhead I'd pull the superstore collab content and go with a warbond release instead. Anyone who bought the whole thing would get the warbond for free with those items unlocked. Anyone who bought the items in part would get their SC refunded.

I worked yesterday, today, and the next 4 days up to Christmas eve mate. I dodn't have time to gring nothing. THAT is FOMO. Wasn't announced ahead of time, wasn't this or that. Dropped, told us less than a week, etc. THAT is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ business practice. Don't forget, a LOT of us have to work, a LOT.

All I'm gonna say is that to say 'oh all you need is patience cause eventually its gonna come back again' is braindead in multiple ways

1. Then they could dangle a carrot on a stick by saying that in some indefinite point in the future that it's going to come back (trust me bro) which could be any inordinate amount of time.
2. To respond to a complaint of FOMO with saying you need 'patience' doesn't work when you consider instances such as games with limited time items and/or battlepass items that do not return/or return months/years later unannounced (again for a limited time and likely to be another long period for which it would be unobtainable). Should people have the patience for the limited time to run out so they can have they patience to wait until it's available again? What's the point being made here?
3. Tangetially related, but why is it that everyone I see tries to constantly downplay the issue instead of directly addressing it? Saying "it doesn't matter that much" and then missing the point isn't a very good argument.
