It'll probably get stronger after the new patch, and if not then i guess i'll be saddened by this.
I bring the Mech on every single bug mission I run and have for a long time, so I have a LOT of hours piloting it. My feeling about the new one is that it's not as good as the old one, though I still haven't tested it against bots. The main gun doesn't do enough damage. If you have both mechs on the field then the Emancipator can help shore up the Patriot's shortcomings, but the Patriot is still the more versatile machine. The Emancipator is easier to aim, so it's more user friendly to less experienced pilots, but the autocannon rounds need a buff.
Scout striders and machine-gun emplacements are a serious source of chip damage, both of which are not an issue with Emancipator autocannons. Small bots are a big source of ammo waste, since it is almost required to melee them, and an Emancipator mech would need allies to clear the small fry while it focuses on devastators, gunships, berserkers, and hulks.
I suspect both mechs are still cannon fodder (as in the cannons will destroy them almost immediatly), which means foot mobiles will have to destroy cannon towers and keep an alert for annihilator tanks. Maybe a good idea for the pilot to carry a spear or pair up with a spear user to delete cannon towers or combine forces against tanks.
I agree that Patriot seems better against bugs. If the map has bile spewers, then Emancipator could easily kill those and dense clusters of bugs with aimed shots. Good news is that the mech chassis is just as effective against everything smaller than a spewer simply by existing.
thing is very good for bigger enemies ESPECIALLY if you have 2 people running it. barrage of hell.
