Helghast Canon or Not?
Good day freedom fighters,

can I ask: Is Helghast faction lore friendly according to HELLDIVERS universe?
If not, why did they add that? It looks nice, but I mean there's a reason why we cannot officially play as soldiers from other universe.
It wouldn't bother me that much if there weren't writings on those armors that look similar to Automaton language. :/

It's a Crossover item

Basically a weapon manufacturer that made equipment that just so happen to look like Helghast equipment decided to donate equipment to the Helldivers is the in-game explanation

just wait until a ODST cosplay manufacturer gives out armor and weapons who look like halo equipment

I thought that all people and manufacturers are already under the Super Earth flag. :/

Yeah, still they have their own "history" and "signs and/or flags" - that is the whole reason. It is not Helghast = canon, like the REAL Helghast, but as others said that there is just a similar planet/ corporation )Stahl Arms) which supplies Super Earth with its equipment.

In this "Crossover"-sense we could even have the "Adeptus Mechanicus" from Warhammer 40k, being "just" a big group and factory-corperation on Mars.

Thanks for all answers.
I must say that it broke my faction satisfaction from Super Earth.
It no more feels like fighting for one united Mankind under ONE super flag of Super Earth.
If it was optional to turn off or on armors like these, it would be less game breaking for me. :(

It doesn't matter what we look like on the outside, it is the shared believe and loyalty to the Democracy which should be more than enough to unbreak the game for you fellow Helldiver.

I aprreciate it, but I've made my statement.

what a weird and incredibly small thing to be "unimmersed" by.

I mean we can wear bright yellow armor with a bright blue helmet and a bright red cape and thats "immersive" but having a specific type of armor (that fits visually into the universe) isnt?

like ok.

Of course, we can also add Star Wars and Halo armors officially, so everybody can look fitting to himself.
Game for everyone is game for no one.

If devs had made/ sold the Killzone armour as a "dissident armour" nobody would have had bat an eyelid. It looks a bit off (colour wise) but for me the e.g. "Doubt Killer" armour looks way more out of place (which is an original Helldiver armour).

So except the "it is from Killzone"-tag it is fitting. Halo armours, from the Marines and ODST, would also fit - almost no difference to SEAF.
Same could be made with "Star Wars"-armours, even then we already have many helmets which look like from Star Wars.

Beside all that, the game already has "everybody can look fitting to himself", so with this logic it is already "for no one" - which I would object to.

Still, one can feel unimmersed by "crossover"-armours, which is fair I think, but it is not a problem of the game - if done in a good way - but with the player.

Share the sentiment. A settings option of "Default all crossover armors to default helldiver armor" would go a long way in my opinion.

I love the Helghast aesthetic myself and I was extremely happy when they made this crossover. But it surprised me they kept all the insignia, it's not Stahl arms, it's their military symbol (the arrows) and all the other symbols just scream Helghan army, which I have doubts would join Super Earth. They seeked freedom for the Helghan people, they were pretty ruthless and authoritarian going more in a fascist direction then democratic. I could actually imagine them joining the automatons more than SE. We simply do not have enough lore to support this crossover, which would be fine if they didn't keep the original Helghan symbols. So it leaves me kinda puzzled.

I believe that (while a little silly) the in universe excuse is that those are, by "coincidence," the symbols and imagery of the Stahl arms company

Well Killzone lore had Earth destroyed by nuclear weapons and populations migrating to outer space, Stahl arms became the major supplier of Helghast weaponry but that was long after that. It sadly won't make sense with Helldivers lore.
I'm hoping they will at least revive Killzone, if not and this was just a massive cashgrab and the last milking of the Killzone series by Sony I will be sad but not surprised..
