Didn't boost the fps a lot, but mostly kept it more stable so when it's at low fps you can at least adapt without the game constantly speeding up and slowing down.
I'll try to check my other settings later, pretty sure i have everything on low except for view distance which is a notch higher.
With the buff update, difficulty 9&10 feel pretty doable with dips to 15~20fps at worst cases.
I also recommend CryoUtilities.
I will warn you, when you get to the upper difficulties, to make it play well it's not going to look awesome. On the "Render Scale", I have mine currently set to "Balanced". The works okay for most biomes but you may need to drop to "Performance".
Most of the options I have set to Low, except for:
Texture Quality
Render Distance
which are both on Medium. Also, the SteamOS FSR does not work with this game engine. I would also recommend messing with the response curve of the right stick in the Steam Deck Controller configuration. You can slow down the response so when you are aiming you can be more precise.
I'm away from home atm so i haven't checked, but what Mahjik said is exactly right; view distance and texture quality can be on medium without much of a difference.
Afaik i run my render scale on balanced, but i'll have to double check that to be sure.
