Chemical weapons are genuinely bad
I just can't justify using any of them. I could throw a gas strike on bug breach, for it to kill maybe 5 bugs, or I could just take a orbital barrage and kill 30 with no fuss. I could take a gas sprayer, which struggles to kill anything and makes them on loose occasion stare vacantly to your left or right for all of one second, or I could just take a flame thrower and kill them before that effect would ever matter. I could take chem drone that vaguely farts at enemies, or I could just take a drone that just kills them faster.

Honestly, Arrowhead, stop balancing things in a vacuum here. This is not the only weapon in the game being made completely independent of competitors. It is a whole stratagem slot being dedicated to this hot garbage.

You should know better than this by now, surely you can see how comically low the smoke device pick rates are? Sure you know by now how completely trivial a confusion effect is, when there are many more devices that just flat out kill in that time frame and use the same slot. You should know better than this, and yet you released this? Knowing full well how completely irrelevant and broken smoke gameplay is? And you thought lets make a "smoke+small damage" design was a good idea? So good an idea that it would be the first stratagems you lock behind a battle pass??

When people say Arrowhead does not know how to balance, this is the kind of stuff that just proves the point here. The META stratagems are stronger than ever, and the niche stragems remain a waste of a slot.

Thing with gas weaponry is that it lowers enemy armor. That's in theory it's use. Not sure if it's worth it given that now enemies are more vulnerable.

EDIT: Well, apparently they don't do that. That sucks.

Why keep people making this up? It confuses and blinds enemies, that's all it does.

Oh, it doesn't? Well, my bad. I stand corrected.

Gonna need a source for that, cause I'm not seeing a difference. All it does is minimal damage over time and a confusion effect.

My bad. Had the thread open for a while and didn't refresh before posting lol.

It's a support weapon/mechanic.

You're not all supposed to use it.

One person is, to help supplement the team.

the support weapon isn't really good but the guard dog is nice, as well as the grenades.

Gas in general has become more useful than just "fire but green" and it's pretty cool to have someone in a team able to spread some gas. when things go haywire, it's always nice to be able to confuse the hell out of a bunch of enemies to disengage quickly.

You can really make cool support build with this, too.

In solo though, it's definitely not good.

You know what does more support? Just shooting the enemy rather than standing in obliteration range while spraying them with a "if I am lucky they will attack a direction other than mine" cloud.

This is an absurd argument. There is more support to be had in just obliterating them with a flamethrower. Atleast that keeps them from advancing and attacking more than the chem sprayer.

I've been enjoying using the poison support weapon with a laser dog backpack and EMS turret (bug side). Just a bunch of crowd control, and DOTs from the laser burning and from the posion. It's kinda cool.

I think what he's saying applies to the orbital and grenade more than it does the gun; more distance. Gun I haven't tried much but it does seem like the least useful. I could see it being useful maybe on chargers but stun grenade probably a better option. I kill a lot more than 5 bugs with gas orbital. Usually have big kill streaks. Not sure if the new patch lowered the damage it does. I've never once used the barrage but it is a great option based on seeing team mates use it. Slightly faster cooldown time as well. I may try it soon. I'm really liking the gas grenade. Sometimes a lot of reloading and stimming has to be done and slowing them down is great. Sometime you can just dip and save your ammo.

Gas is a effect weapon now not a damage weapon

If you want damage use flamethrower

If you want ti spray them and run away or throw airstrikes at them us gas
Doom Sep 19, 2024 @ 9:45pm
gas grenade does everything the strat does and you're giving up way way less. just toss the gas grenade and lay into them

it dosnt lower armor it does consent damage negating armor it feels like that because they are taking damage i love the gas myself as i run with the 80% gas resist and just throw down a grenade and kill the helpless enemy's
