Shotguns and the laser rover work very well against hunter packs.
Also the orbital gas strike and nades help freeze them in place/kill them.
I have noticed the charger-heavy brood and the spewer-heavy broods seem slightly rarer to me, though I don't have enough of a sample size to come to a conclusion yet. Sometimes I get unlucky and get the same brood 3-5 times in a row.
their natural predators are mg's , and taking the habit of mowing them down at distance before they encircle you is a good one to take. their jump attack can seem at first to be homing but it isn't , zig zag when you're running and they will miss, same for their tongue attack , you can also melee when they begin their jump to greet them at landing with a liberty slap.
never let hunters unchallenged in your personnal space , or they will begin to chain attacks and kill you pretty fast. if you damage them they will recoil and go back to circling and jumping around, even melee will do that. if you goofed all of that and end up with lots of hunters on you , you'll discover that healing can be interrupted if you're standing up. i suggest you dive , and stim as soon as you land. unless radgolled you can't be interrupted that way. this should allow you to tank the incoming damage to reload your most appropriate weapon.
There are 4 broods you can encounter. Yellow and green spitters, armored, and hunters. If you get hunters, you get a LOT of hunters.
Haven't played the game in like 5 months and i'm still at the early stages. In any case i get the feeling the spawn system is very different. Well, this might be the answer i needed. tyvm sir
