They tried to rework GAS to fill a Support role, but is there a place for it?
As it is right now, i think only the "Dog Breath" drone followed by the STIM Pistol can fill that role and do it right.

GAS now blinds and slows down enemies, as well as doing chip damage over long periods of time.

In my opinion, they did it to make GAS more "distinct" from the flame-themed weaponry, which is a neat idea...in theory.

- "Dog Breath" uses your backpack slot, and debuffing the enemy giving you time to move, stim and fight back is probably the best Stratagem of the warbond.

- "STIM Pistol" is a bit of a novelty , but can ABSOLUTELY work in my opinion!

However, the problem is : why i should debuff the enemy when i can just kill it, burn it, drop a stratagem what have you.

As it stand, GAS may see only niche use because "killing the enemy quickly before they kill you" is King.

Gas could have some use, but with the buffs of other stratagems and weapons, gas was already out the window in place of better weapons of war

And ironically the increased damage on divers doubles down on that.

It's like the left hand doesn't know what the right does.

Killing the enemy quickly isn't always an option when they surround you or one of your squad-mates. That, I think, is where gas would work. I haven't used any of the gas items yet because I'm not devoting my support weapon slot to a "not a gun". I imagine the Guard Dog variant would be quite handy for bugs, though, as it might work in exactly those "surrounded by enemies" situations, depending on how they have it set up.

They said the warbond stratagems should be a side grade to existing stratagems. Yet they reworked it to make it something totally different and probably did so under the old balance philosophy because it's dog s*.

The Sterilizer could have been a flamethrower that slows enemies instead of burning them, putting sludge on the ground and dealing the same gas tick damage it did before (which was still less than the boosted fire damage from ship upgrades), that would have been CC enough and the side grade they promised.

How? Gas kills divers quickly and even if you all take the immunity armor it's still gonna kill you before it clears the enemies.

It wouldn't be different from throwing any other stratagem, except probably less effective.

It's helpful for sure, It stops chargers in it's tracks and prevents them from effectively fighting.

Whilst it not being too lethal might on paper be unattractive, having someone up front gassing the enemies out can help turn overwhelming odds that would be hard to fight with sheer firepower into a much easier stumbling mess of confused targets.

It's especially good against bots ironically, since they can't shoot you for ♥♥♥♥ when they're gassed out, and it stops hulks and zerkers

Puke on the charger, toss a thermite, puke some more, run away - boom.

You can weave in EATs for titans etc as well.

I'm running cookout primary with it, so i take care of shriekers, small guys, knock back those alphas, confuse stalkers/chargers, and EAT titans.

one of the more reliable well rounded builds

Game isnt as easy as when we had the pre-nerf quasars lol.

I tried cookout but mass nurse spew and bile spew are a problem lol

I feel like there should have been a stealth warbond - silenced/supressed weapons and such - before the gas rework. Like OP said, why disorient when I can just kill? There's no benefit to less-lethal crowd control options when we have so many good options for clearing a group. But if there was more of a stealth aspect I could see the benefit of a disorienting cloud for infiltration/exfiltration/avoiding patrols.

The gas should interact with flame weapons to make an even more volatile reaction.
Like throwing petrol on fire.

It definitely does tbh.

A flamethrower requires you to hold your aim on a target for a prolonged period of time to cook them, and meanwhile they're still capable of pushing towards you and hitting you.

The gas thrower immediately disorients them as soon as they come into contact with the gas and prevents them from effectively fighting you and it's much easier to sweep an entire group with it.

It's a bit more situational than purging in great flame, but it can clutch bad situations

Admittedly, on the Bug front it has more utility.

Considering this is third Warbond themed after fighting bugs (godamn you, Arrowhead), it stands to reason that Arrowhead is trying to cater to Bugdivers.

I just hope we'll have a Warbond themed after fighting the Bots next... -_-
