its not only about DPS, its just its use, its very niche and doesent fit a handheld weapon. the toxic effect works well with the grenades and orbital, but not when shot from a diver.
i will continue to have fun with fart sprayer
have you ever tried playing a dedicated flame loadout? it's a totally different playstyle emphasizing trails of fire and DOT damage.
its not as fast pace as the traditional loadout but it offers a unique and some find fun and rewarding.
the sterilizer takes it to another level of DOT and CC.
some people wanna be a hunter, others wanna be a warlock.
Or you could use a flamethrower and straight up kill them. Death is the best CC, after all.
Although I have to admit that seeing braindamaged bugs punching eachother doesn't get old.
I wasn't going to buy the new warbond, but now I am.
Here's a list of what would be nice to have:
- Longer-lasting effect so you can spray a group of enemies and then switch to your primary to finish them as they're helpless, rather than have to constantly reapply the gas effect;
- Longer range so you don't have to be in the thick of it to contribute to the fight;
- A lasting AoE gas effect, leaving a gas cloud after a sufficient amount of ammo has been spent. Would help with the aforementioned short effect duration.
Like, the Gas Grenades and Gas Orbital are great. I have no notes. Those do the job of CC well and they make sense because you can kill stuff *while* they are taking effect, they're fire and forget.
The Sterilizer, you have to actively not be killing things in order to be spraying with it. The effective range is way shorter than how far you can toss a grenade or a gas orbital. You are better off just killing things outright than spending large amounts of time just spraying enemies with it....enemies who, due to its short range are likely to just break through and lunge at you anyway.
You can't even puff and switch because the gas wears off almost immediately.
